The Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences Wins the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the Global Finals of the Huawei ICT Competition in China

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, joined the faculty’s students in celebrating their achievement of winning the Grand Prize and the Gold Medal at the global finals of the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026, hosted in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious international competitions specialized in information and communication technology fields.

This outstanding achievement came after Ain Shams University students won two Grand Prize awards, the highest level of awards presented in the competition, surpassing competing teams from different countries around the world. This reflects the advanced academic and technical level of the faculty’s students and their ability to compete and excel internationally.

         
   
         

In the Cloud Track, student Abdelrahman Adel El-Bahrawy, a 2025 graduate of the Information Systems Program at the Faculty of Computers and Information Sciences, was part of the team that won the Grand Prize. Meanwhile, student Karim Gamal from the Faculty of Science, Class of 2021, won the Grand Prize in the Computing Track, in an achievement that confirms the university’s leadership in technology and digital transformation fields.

This victory represents an extension of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences’ series of successes in Huawei international competitions. The faculty’s students had previously won first place globally in the Cloud Track during the 2024–2025 edition of the competition, reflecting continuous excellence and progress in preparing qualified students in the latest technological fields.

Prof. Rasha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University, emphasized that this achievement reflects the distinguished level of the faculty’s students and their ability to compete globally in advanced technological fields. She noted that winning the Grand Prize in the competition is the result of the faculty’s continuous efforts to develop students’ skills.

She added that this success crowns the role played by the Huawei ICT Academy at the faculty, managed by Dr. Mona Abdel Azim, Director of the Academy. The academy contributes to preparing and qualifying students to participate in local and international competitions, in addition to providing specialized training programs and certified professional certificates in networking, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

She also affirmed that the faculty continues to support talented and creative students and provides an educational and training environment that encourages innovation and excellence. This contributes to preparing qualified cadres capable of competing and leading in the labor market at both the local and international levels, while enhancing Ain Shams University’s position in global academic and technological forums.
