In a new achievement added to Ain Shams University's record, the university, along with several other Egyptian universities, has won a participation in the EUSEEDS project funded by the European Union, implemented within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED Program, in cooperation with the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).
The project is coordinated by the by the AUF's Middle East Regional Directorate and comprises an international, multi-national coalition including institutions and partners from several countries, including Egypt, Cyprus, France, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine, reflecting the project's international and integrative character.
The EUSEEDS project aims to establish specialized university centers within the participating universities. These centers will contribute to developing students' skills, particularly in the areas of employability, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation, thereby enhancing their readiness for the labor market at local, regional, and international levels.
In this context, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, expressed his pride in this international achievement, affirming that the university's success in participating in the EUSEEDS project reflects the advanced academic standing the university holds regionally and internationally, and embodies the trust of European partners in its institutional and human capacities.
He added that the project represents a qualitative step towards enhancing the applied education system and linking educational outcomes with labor market needs, contributing to the preparation of graduates capable of competing in modern and evolving work environments.
Furthermore, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, explained that the project aligns with the university's vision to maximize its community and developmental role by supporting a culture of entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital transformation among students and youth. This contributes to creating sustainable job opportunities and strengthening partnerships with civil society organizations and the public and private sectors. Her Excellency affirmed that Ain Shams University is the first Egyptian public university to establish an integrated Francophonie center, contributing to building cadres capable of leading local and regional development and solidifying the concept of the university as a primary driver of comprehensive development.
The vision of the Francophonie University Center at Ain Shams University is based on enhancing communication between French-speaking faculty staff, students, researchers, and Francophone academic entities worldwide, as well as the target labor market for French speakers and bilingual (French-English) speakers. This will be achieved through training programs for employment and personal and professional capacity building, and the activation of a "Researchers and Students Club" and an interactive platform to oversee these various events and activities.
The selection of the Egyptian universities followed intense international and regional competition that involved multiple evaluation stages. The list of winning Egyptian universities includes: Ain Shams University, Al-Azhar University, Alexandria University, Suez Canal University, Damanhour University, and Mansoura University.
