Affirming the distinguished standing of Ain Shams University and its academic leadership, Prof. Rania Mohamed Fawzy, Professor of Urdu Language, former Head of the Department of Oriental Languages at the Faculty of Arts, and Secretary of the Permanent Scientific Committee for the Promotion of Professors and Associate Professors of Oriental, Slavic, and Middle Eastern Languages, was honored during the activities of the African Regional Conference of the Hindi Language. The conference is organized by the Embassy of India in Cairo in cooperation with Ain Shams University, under the theme “The Hindi Language for Connectivity and Cultural Cooperation from the Ganges to the Nile.”

His Excellency Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Cairo, presented her with the Shield of Honor in recognition of her pioneering role in establishing the first academic program for teaching the Hindi language at Egyptian universities, as well as her scholarly efforts in translating the books History of Modern India and History of Ancient India, which have contributed to the dissemination of Indian culture and the strengthening of cultural exchange between the two countries.
This honor crowns a distinguished academic career, as Prof. Rania Mohamed Fawzy possesses an outstanding record of authored and translated books, in addition to receiving numerous certificates of appreciation and shields of honor from prestigious academic and cultural institutions, including the National Center for Translation. Her translation of History of Modern India was shortlisted for the Gamal Hamdan Award, and she has also been honored by several Indian universities and international academic institutions.
She has participated in numerous international and local scientific conferences and supervised many master’s and doctoral theses in Urdu and Hindi, in addition to her notable contributions to the fields of quality assurance and academic accreditation.
It is worth noting that the two-day conference brings together an elite group of academics, researchers, and writers from African countries and beyond, and aims to enhance the global status of the Hindi language and support cultural and academic cooperation among peoples, reflecting Ain Shams University’s leading role in promoting cultural dialogue and international openness.
