The Faculty of Pharmacy organized a lecture titled “Scientific Committee Guidelines for Evaluating the Research Output of Promotion Applicants for the 15th Cycle (2025–2028),” held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Rehab Osman Ahmed, Acting Dean of the Faculty. The event was supervised by Prof. Irene Ayoub, Director of International Relations and Academic Cooperation at the Faculty and attended by many faculty staff and teaching assistants.
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Omaima Ahmed Samour, Professor of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy and a member of the Scientific Committee for Evaluating Research Output for the positions of Professor and Associate Professor (Pharmaceutics).

The lecture aimed to clarify the main principles and regulations governing the work of scientific committees in assessing the research output of promotion applicants, with a focus on evaluation mechanisms and the calculation of points for each type of scientific output. It also introduced the key updates in the 15th Cycle (2025–2028).
Prof. Samour reviewed the conditions and procedures for applying to the scientific committees, including the required documents and supporting materials. She presented several practical examples demonstrating how points are calculated in promotion files, explaining the evaluation of published research, research does not subject to reevaluation, and the distinctions between first author, last author, and contributing authors in point allocation, as well as the criteria required to achieve scientific excellence.
The lecture also included practical applications for calculating the total points of a promotion file and comparing them to the required minimum, enhancing attendees’ understanding of the practical procedures followed by scientific committees during evaluations.
The session witnessed active interaction from attendees and concluded with a discussion session, during which Prof. Samour answered faculty staff’s questions and addressed major challenges they face when preparing promotion files.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the lecture, noting the precise information and practical examples that clarified promotion requirements and evaluation mechanisms.
