The Faculty of Engineering receives a delegation from the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and Tianjin University of Light Industry and Tianjin Transportation Technical College

As part of Ain Shams University’s commitment, under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, to enhancing international cooperation in the fields of technical education and vocational training, Prof. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, received a high-level delegation from the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), Tianjin University of Light Industry, and Tianjin Transportation Technical College, along with experts and senior representatives from leading Chinese companies in the fields of engineering consultancy, technology, and advanced industries.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Moneib El-Sabbagh, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Marwa Abou El-Fotouh Khalifa, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Adel Mohamed Moneib El-Sabbagh, Director of Luban Workshop – Egypt at the Faculty, in addition to the heads of departments and supervisors of the various Luban Workshops (Renewable Energy, Production and Design, Automotive, and CNC), as well as a number of coordinators of academic programs and international agreements.

The Chinese delegation included a group of evaluators led by Mr. Qin Bei, Chairman of the Evaluation Committee of the Chinese International Cooperation Agency; Mr. Wei Bingju, Party Committee Secretary of Tianjin Technical College; Mr. Wu Erzhang, Director of International Cooperation at Hebei University of Petroleum Technology; as well as representatives from the Chinese Embassy and Cultural Counsellor’s Office. The delegation also comprised representatives from Tianjin University of Light Industry headed by Dr. Liu Youling, Vice President of the University, and Tianjin Transportation Technical College headed by Dr. Yu Fujang, Vice President of the University, in addition to representatives from several Chinese companies.

During the visit, both sides reviewed the progress of work inside the Luban Workshop at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, highlighting the major achievements in students’ practical training and the state-of-the-art equipment available in the workshop. The Chinese delegation praised the level of advancement and excellence achieved by the Luban Workshops, which has directly impacted the quality of students and graduates, as well as their employment opportunities.

Both parties affirmed that the cooperation between Ain Shams University and Chinese universities, particularly TTTC and TLIVTC, has become a shining model in the field of technical and engineering education in Egypt. It was also emphasized that the spread of the Luban Workshop concept in Egypt reflects the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions also addressed mechanisms for developing existing specializations within the Luban Workshops and expanding training programs to include postgraduate studies. In this context, the meeting announced the provision of scholarships for postgraduate students in the field of CNC in cooperation with three major Chinese companies. Opportunities for collaboration with Egyptian and Chinese companies and factories were also explored, aiming to establish strategic partnerships with the Luban Workshop at Ain Shams University.

The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude to the Chinese side for their substantial support, whether in developing the workshops or in providing scholarships, while stressing that expanding postgraduate programs represents a milestone in the path of cooperation and enhances the sustainability of scientific and cultural exchange between Egypt and China.
