Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Youmna Safwat, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, received a high-level delegation from the Open University of China on an official visit aimed at discussing prospects for academic and technological cooperation, as well as exchanging expertise in Chinese language education. The visit reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen educational and cultural relations between Ain Shams University and Chinese universities.
The delegation comprised Prof. Fan Xian Rui, Vice President of the Open University of China; Xiong Ying, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages; Ren Ran, Deputy Director of the IT Department; Wu Xing Hua, Deputy Director of Human Resources; and Hu Song Yan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Education.
From the Faculty of Al-Alsun, the delegation was welcomed by Prof. Hassanien Fahmy Hussein, Head of the Chinese Language Department; Prof. Nint Naeem; Prof. Jan Badawi; and Prof. Enayat Abdel Hamid, all faculty staff of the department.

At the start of the meeting, Prof. Youmna Safwat warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation and delivered a detailed presentation introducing the Chinese Language Department, its academic journey, specialized programs, and ongoing collaborative projects with partner Chinese universities. She also highlighted the faculty’s efforts to expand e-learning courses and develop digital educational content, emphasizing the increasing importance placed on digital transformation to enhance the educational process and serve students of Chinese studies.
Prof. Fan Xian Rui, Vice President of the Open University of China, expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and her pleasure in visiting the Faculty of Al-Alsun. She praised the department’s academic capabilities, modern infrastructure, and the expertise of its teaching staff. She also commended the international agreements linking the department with prestigious Chinese universities and expressed her university’s eagerness to build new collaborative bridges with Ain Shams University, particularly in areas related to e-learning and developing Chinese language teaching skills in the digital era.
Following the meeting, the delegation participated in the second session of the Chinese Studies Seminar, established and chaired by Prof. Hassanien Fahmy Hussein. The session, attended by numerous faculty members, assistant staff, and researchers, featured extensive scientific discussions on developments in Chinese language education.
During the seminar, Prof. Fan Xian Rui delivered a specialized lecture titled “Teaching Chinese in the Era of Digital Transformation”, highlighting the latest global trends in integrating technology into education. The lecture was enriched by contributions from Prof. Jan Badawi and Prof. Nint Naeem, who shared expert insights on language teaching methodologies.

As part of the visit, Prof. Hassanien Fahmy Hussein honored the Chinese delegation in recognition of their role in supporting academic cooperation. The delegation also inaugurated an exhibition of faculty publications, reviewing a collection of books, studies, and research that reflect the development of scientific output in Chinese studies at the Faculty of Al-Alsun.
The visit program included several cultural and artistic performances by students, showcasing their linguistic and cultural skills and highlighting the practical aspects of Chinese language studies. The performances received enthusiastic responses from both students and faculty, particularly from students enrolled in the Chinese Language and Literature programs and the Credit-Hours program.
The visit concluded with Prof. Fan Xian Rui taking commemorative photos with students of the Chinese Language Department, expressing her appreciation for their outstanding performance and the warm welcome extended to the delegation at the Faculty of Al-Alsun.
