Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, chaired the meeting of the Graduate Studies and Research Sector Council for the academic year 2025-2026, attended by the deans’ deputies for graduate studies and research affairs and council members.

Prof. Amany opened the session by extending her sincere congratulations to 123 professors from Ain Shams University who were selected as part of the new formation of the permanent scientific committees for promotions at the Supreme Council of Universities in its fifteenth session, affirming that this selection reflects the distinguished scientific competencies of the university and its leadership among Egyptian universities.

During the meeting, she reviewed a report on the status of the university’s scientific journals, noting that Ain Shams University publishes 50 scientific journals, including 46 journals indexed in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, 6 journals indexed in the SCOPUS database, 22 journals indexed in the DOAJ database, and 16 journals indexed in the ARCI.

She emphasized the importance of monitoring both international and local scientific publishing to enhance the exchange of expertise and coordination between faculties, as well as continuing to implement the university’s plan to develop the graduate studies and research sector.

Moreover, she clarified that the current scientific journals indexed in SCOPUS mainly cover the engineering and agriculture sectors, with the necessity to expand to include the health sector and other sectors in the upcoming period to cover all fields.

In addition, she pointed out that there is a more focused plan in the coming period regarding scientific journals, including the necessity of forming a specialized working team to follow up on the indexing of scientific journals affiliated with faculties in international databases, and the need to prepare an integrated plan to maximize faculties’ benefit from scientific platforms, journals, and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, with a study of each faculty’s needs to determine the most suitable databases and scientific publishers, ensuring the optimal use of financial resources allocated to scientific research and supporting international publishing for faculty members and researchers.

Prof. Amany Osama Kamel also directed the formation of a committee from the Unit for Research on Educational Strategy Development to study ways to develop the university’s educational process in line with the latest global trends and enhance the quality of academic programs.
