A New Digital Transformation at Ain Shams University: Two Platforms for Inventory and Maintenance Administration in Cooperation with the Engineering Consulting Center and the Electronic Portal

In a pioneering step toward digital transformation and enhancing resource management efficiency, the Engineering Consulting Center at Ain Shams University organized a training workshop to activate the electronic platform for exchanging commodity inventory between the university's faculties. The workshop was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and under the supervision of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with representatives from various faculties in attendance.

The workshop was opened by Prof. Yasser Mujahid, Director of the Engineering Consulting Center, who emphasized that the launch of this platform is part of the university's strategy to achieve optimal use of resources and reduce waste. This is achieved by exchanging surplus inventory between faculties and providing a central database to help inform decisions based on accurate data.

He explained that the platform provides an advanced electronic environment that enables faculties to enter available inventory data, monitor its status, and request or reserve required items in a transparent and organized manner. This contributes to:

• Rationalizing spending and reducing the purchase of duplicate items.

• Enhancing cooperation between various university units.

• Improving the efficiency of the administrative and logistical work system.

• Facilitating procedures and reducing the time required to complete paperwork.

• Supporting sustainability goals by reducing waste and reusing.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mohsen, lecturer in the Electrical Power and Machines Department and member of the Engineering Consulting Center, gave a presentation on the platform, covering data entry mechanisms, steps for booking and electronic ordering, and even the official transfer of inventory between various entities within the university.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Prof. Yasser Mujahid announced that the Engineering Consulting Center is about to launch a new electronic platform specializing in maintenance work. This platform aims to help faculties submit and follow up on maintenance requests electronically, contributing to increased performance and faster responses to technical and administrative needs.

He emphasized that this project comes with the support and cooperation of the university's electronic portal under the supervision of Prof. Rasha Ismail, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, who provides the necessary technical support to ensure integration between the university's various electronic platforms.
