As part of the University Administration’s commitment to achieving excellence as a fundamental component of its strategy for progress and development across various academic, research, and community fields, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development, chaired the first meeting concerning the launch of the University’s Unit for Monitoring and Supporting the Egypt Government Excellence Award.
The meeting was attended by Professor Mohamed Safi, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Professor Safaa Shehata, Dean of the Faculty of Education; Major General Ahmed Lasheen, Secretary-General of the University; Prof. Ahmed Moneib Al-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Technical and Technological Education and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Hala Moshir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Myriam Ayad, Director of the University's Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center; and Prof. Ahmed El-Balezid, Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture.
During the meeting, Professor Ghada Farouk emphasized that the university is striving to promote a culture of excellence among its members by fostering a stimulating environment for creativity and innovation, recognizing outstanding individuals, and encouraging them to continue their excellence. This aligns with the objectives of sustainable development and supports the implementation of Egypt’s National Strategy 2030.
A committee was formed to monitor the unit's performance and ensure the execution of its assigned tasks.
The attendees agreed that the unit's responsibilities will include reviewing the categories of awards offered within this context, monitoring their criteria and deadlines, and providing technical and logistical support to those wishing to apply, whether from faculties or as individuals, according to the requirements of each award. This will involve organizing training workshops, field visits, performance monitoring, and evaluation. It was also agreed that the unit will oversee the internal University Excellence Award procedures. A proposed organizational structure for the unit was also presented, including an administrative director and a technical support team.
