The Faculty of Business and the Information Technology Institute Launch “Commerce Tech Camp 2026” to Prepare 3,000 Students for the Digital Labor Market

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Farid Moharram El Garhy, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce; and Prof. Heba Saleh, Chairperson of the Information Technology Institute, and with the attendance of 3,000 male and female students, the Faculty of Business at Ain Shams University and the Information Technology Institute launched the “ITI Commerce Tech Camp 2026” to prepare students and graduates for the digital labor market.

In a scene reflecting the high level of awareness among university youth regarding the requirements of the modern era, the Faculty of Business at Ain Shams University witnessed a major student gathering on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, where more than 3,000 students filled the “Hussein El Nouri” and “Yehia Oweis” lecture halls.

   
   

This remarkable turnout, which astonished everyone especially with final exams approaching, came to participate in the launch activities of the “ITI Commerce Tech Camp 2026,” organized in cooperation with the Information Technology Institute affiliated with the Ministry of Communications.

The event was attended by Prof. Mohamed Morsi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Gehan Ragab, Advisor to the Dean for the same sector; Dr. Dalia Mostafa, Academic Coordinator of the English Credit Hours Program; Dr. Hesham Abdel Aziz, Academic Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Programs; Dr. Norhan Tohamy, Executive Director of the Information Technology Unit; and Dr. Sameh El Awady, General Coordinator of Student Activities, in addition to a group of faculty staff and administrative staff.

   
   

Professor Dr. Farid Moharram El Garhy, Dean of the Faculty, inaugurated the event with a powerful and influential speech in which he expressed his great pride in this remarkable student gathering, emphasizing that the traditional commerce graduate, whether a conventional accountant or administrator, is no longer the only profile required in today’s labor market.

The Dean announced an ambitious strategic plan aimed at transforming the Faculty into a “Faculty of Commerce and Business Technology,” revealing curriculum reforms to integrate technology, artificial intelligence, and data analysis as core components of the academic programs.

He explained that approximately ten new technological tracks will be launched, including data analysis, business intelligence, digital marketing, and financial technology, supported by a “micro-credential” system to graduate students holding both academic degrees and specialized technological certifications. He stressed that these golden training opportunities and new programs are strongly available to students of the Arabic section just as they are for language section students.

For her part, Ms. Hasnaa El Shahaby, Director of Community Development at the Information Technology Institute, emphasized the importance of this fruitful cooperation, which provides a clear roadmap for commerce students.

She reviewed the diverse training opportunities offered by the institute, which serves as the training arm of the Ministry of Communications with over 30 years of experience. These opportunities range from intensive nine-month scholarships to shorter three-month programs aimed at developing students’ skills in line with the rapidly changing labor market.

She also encouraged students to make the best use of the institute’s “Mahara-Tech” platform, which won the UNESCO Award in 2025 and provides fully free online courses supporting students in entrepreneurship and freelancing fields.

The explanatory workshop sessions featured presentations by Mr. Ahmed Sayed, Financial Systems Consultant, and Dr. Reham Mamdouh, Director of the Technology Ambassadors Program at Information Technology Institute. Their presentations highlighted new job titles emerging in the labor market, such as “Tech-Enabled Accountant” and “AI-Supported Human Resources and Supply Chain Specialist.”

The speakers guided students through a practical simulation of establishing a digital company from idea to operation, including a detailed explanation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data-driven decision-making processes, emphasizing that the camp’s main objective is to “build business graduates who master the use of technology” in real work environments.

The intensive training day included three core workshops. The first, titled “From Idea to Operation,” focused on artificial intelligence tools in building business models.

This was followed by the “Technological Solutions” workshop, which demonstrated the implementation of a full institutional workflow cycle — including procurement, inventory, sales, and collection — on a unified ERP system connecting all departments.

The activities concluded with the “Draw Your Path” workshop, which outlined details of the upcoming summer training camp, featuring tracks including 60 hours of training on Oracle and Odoo systems, and 120 hours of training on the ServiceNow platform.

At the end of the day, Prof. Farid Moharram honored the lecturers and the delegation of the Information Technology Institute in appreciation of their efforts in enriching the event and sharing their expertise with students. He also extended thanks to all organizers, especially Dr. Sameh El Awady, General Coordinator of Student Activities, and the Faculty Student Union, for their pivotal and effective role in the success of this gathering.
