In line with the state's efforts to rationalize energy consumption, the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University organized a seminar entitled "Your Conservation = Your Life."
The seminar was held under the auspices of Prof. Rami Maher Sadek Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan Mohamed, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs.

Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan Mohamed's address emphasized that the university is steadily progressing towards establishing a culture of sustainability, and that its role extends beyond mere knowledge acquisition to cultivate individuals who understand that every drop of water and every spark of energy is a responsibility entrusted to them, and that awareness of conservation is not an intellectual luxury but an existential duty.
The seminar hosted Prof. Hoda Ibrahim Ahmed Helal, Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research, Ain Shams University, a certified consultant at the Environmental Affairs Agency, and former Director of the Green Transformation Unit (SUFA). She delivered a comprehensive scientific and emotional presentation that went beyond theoretical discussions, connecting the concept to the daily lives of students and the community.
She began by emphasizing that the energy crisis is not merely a resource crisis, but also a crisis of awareness and behavior. She explained that every simple act of consumption—such as leaving lights on unnecessarily or overusing appliances—cumulatively becomes a massive burden on both the economy and the environment.
She pointed out that the concept of "rationalization" is not based on prohibition, but rather on reordering priorities so that resources are used appropriately and efficiently, without waste.
She presented practical examples relevant to students' lives, such as conserving electricity in homes and classrooms, reducing unnecessary reliance on electronic devices, and how simple behaviors can make a tangible difference to energy bills at the family, institutional, and national levels.
She also addressed the environmental dimension, explaining that every kilowatt saved means reduced emissions and greater protection of natural resources. She linked this to the concept of "carbon footprint" in a simplified way to make the idea more accessible to students.
In her address, she emphasized that the green transformation is no longer a postponed option, but a global imperative, and that universities are the true starting point for this transformation, being the primary incubators of awareness, knowledge, and behavioral development.
The hall was filled with students, transforming the listening session into a vibrant space for interaction and questions, reflecting the awareness of a generation seeking a deeper understanding of its role in life.
A number of university students from various student entities participated in creating this scene, including the Social Colours family, along with the family’s elder sister, Doha Mohamed, the family’s elder brother, Mohamed Gaber, the assistant secretary of the families committee, Bilal Mohamed, the secretary of the families committee, Ezzat Walid, the vice president of the union, Shahd Emad, the president of the union, Abdel Maksoud Atef, and the director of youth welfare, Mrs. Soha El-Sabaa, in an attendance that reflected the spirit of integration between student and administrative work within the university.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Social Colours family presented a commemorative plaque to Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, and two other plaques to Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Hoda Helal, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research, Ain Shams University.
