Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El‑Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Egyptian French Law Section at the Faculty of Law officially commenced.
The event was held on Monday, April 20, on the sidelines of the university’s 14th International Scientific Conference, the ceremony featured a festive atmosphere that began with the playing of the Egyptian and French national anthems, marking 25 years since the section’s establishment, the graduation of its 20th cohort, and the awarding of French master’s degrees.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El‑Abedeen highlighted the depth of academic relations, while Prof. Rami Maher Ghali emphasized the university administration’s support for dual-degree programs.
From the French side, Prof. David Sadoulet, Cultural Cooperation Counselor at the French Embassy, underlined the role of this partnership in preparing internationally qualified legal professionals. This was echoed by Olivier Jouve, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Lyon 3 University, who affirmed the strength of ties between the two institutions.
Prof. Rami Maher Ghali expressed his pleasure and pride in welcoming the distinguished attendees, extending his gratitude to all those who contributed to this significant celebration. In a heartfelt, fatherly message, he conveyed his warmest congratulations to the graduates, noting that this day reflects years of dedication and sincere effort, and wishing them continued success and excellence in their future academic and professional paths. He also encouraged graduates of the French Section at the Faculty of Law to maintain strong ties with their alma mater, affirming that it will always remain their first home—the foundation upon which their futures were built and their legal identities shaped.

In the same context, Prof. Mohamed El-Shafie, Vice Dean, highlighted the faculty’s pioneering role in advancing partnerships aligned with labor market demands, while Dr. Mina Adel, Head of the Section, delivered a message of appreciation to students and their families for their efforts in reaching this milestone.

In a reflective segment titled “Back to the Roots”, Prof. Hossam El-Ahouany, former Dean and founder of the section, reviewed the journey from concept to agreement. Professor Mohamed Aboul Ela Akida, the section’s first director, also spoke about the early beginnings and the challenges faced by the initial administration, adding a sense of tribute to the institution’s history.
The ceremony concluded with an awards segment, during which honorary shields were presented to individuals who contributed to the establishment of the section. The event also witnessed the awarding of bachelor’s degrees and French master’s degrees in public business law to graduating students. Representing her peers, student “Hania” delivered a speech reflecting on the academic experience and their aspirations for postgraduate studies in France, accompanied by a visual presentation documenting the section’s achievements over a quarter century.
