Within the framework of the pioneering community role of Ain Shams University and the University administration’s commitment to actively participate in all community initiatives, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a comprehensive development convoy to serve the residents of Qena Governorate, Al-Waqf Center, Al-Marshida Village.

The convoy was held under the patronage of Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena; Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; and Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The activities were organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Ain Shams University in cooperation with Qena Governorate and the Egyptian Red Crescent. The convoy witnessed the participation of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University Hospitals, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the General Authority for Adult Education, and continued over the course of four days.

Prof. Ghada Farouk stated that the number of beneficiaries exceeded 5,000 individuals, covering all convoy tracks, including medical, social, literacy eradication, and adult education services. She praised the diversity of activities, noting that the medical track included clinics in eight specialties: Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Pediatrics, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, and Dentistry. Free medications were provided, in addition to performing 12 cardiac catheterization procedures and stent placements in coordination with Qena General Hospital, and referring 102 cases to Ain Shams University Specialized Hospitals to complete treatment.
Regarding the literacy eradication and adult education track, which was supervised by the University’s Adult Education Center in cooperation with the National Authority for Literacy, 427 beneficiaries received services, including immediate examinations and the issuance of certificates.
Additionally, 300 blankets were distributed in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent.

The convoy was supervised by Hala Samir Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; and coordinated with Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
