The Faculty of Archaeology at Ain Shams University organized an orientation meeting for new students for the 2025/2026 academic year. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Hossam Tantawy, Dean of the Faculty, supervised by Dr. Nawal Gaber Mohamed, Acting Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and organized by Dr. Faten Yehia, Director of the Academic Advising Unit, in collaboration with the Student Union and the “Students for Egypt” initiative.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Bassem Mohamed, Acting Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, along with a group of faculty members, administrative staff, and a representative from the University Center for Students with Disabilities.
At the start of the meeting, Prof. Hossam Tantawy welcomed the new students who chose to join the Faculty of Archaeology, one of the prestigious faculties at Ain Shams University. He emphasized that this choice would mark a significant milestone in their lives, wishing them continued success, and appreciated the role of parents in supporting their children throughout past and upcoming stages.

He also advised students to maintain continuous communication with the faculty and university administration through official channels to exchange ideas, seek guidance, and have their questions answered. He stressed that the years of study provide opportunities to participate in various university activities, especially those related to innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment, in addition to personal development and building lifelong friendships. He further emphasized the importance of considering labor market needs when choosing an academic program.
Dr. Nawal Gaber praised the large turnout of students and parents at the event, emphasizing the faculty’s commitment to organizing such annual activities that provide guidance and advice to new students, helping them map a clear path for their academic journey.
Prof. Bassem Mohamed also highlighted the importance of university life and the necessity of attending lectures and field visits.
The orientation included brief presentations by representatives from the faculty’s departments and programs: Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Dr. Samar Hamdoun, Dr. Emad Ibrahim, Dr. Dina Mohsen, and Dr. Sara Samir. They presented the features of each program, answered students’ questions, and explained the admission requirements, program significance, and relevance to the labor market.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Nora Mohamed Hussein, Director of the Information Technology Unit, provided a detailed explanation of the electronic services available to students via the University Management System (UMS) and the Asu2Learn platform, in addition to electronic payment services.
This orientation meeting reflects the Faculty of Archaeology’s commitment to preparing its new students for university life and equipping them with the necessary information and guidance to begin their academic journey with confidence and clarity of vision.
