The Faculty of Arts launches its annual conference entitled "The Role of Humanities and Social Sciences in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals"

The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University is organizing its 2025 annual conference under the title “Humanities and Social Sciences: Their Role in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”, which will be held on May 11 and 12 at the Faculty Theatre, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty, with the participation of a distinguished group of experts and specialists.

The conference is coordinated by Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs and Conference Rapporteur; Prof. Hatem Rabie Hassan, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Hanan Mohamed Salem, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The conference aims to highlight the pivotal role of the humanities and social sciences in understanding contemporary societal challenges and providing innovative solutions through the study of human behavior and the analysis of social structures, contributing to addressing social, economic, and environmental issues. It also seeks to promote scientific research and support educational institutions to serve as a cornerstone in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference will cover several key themes, including interaction with digital transformation, promoting social innovation, the role of language and literature in building a sustainable society, as well as discussing psychological and social issues and improving quality of life. It will also explore the use of history and heritage in strengthening cultural identity and sustainable tourism, the role of archaeology in supporting the Egyptian economy, environmental challenges and how to utilize natural resources, in addition to the impact of arts, culture, and artificial intelligence on the development of education and scientific research.
