The UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize at its tenth session in 2024

The Awards Office announces the opening of applying for the UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize, which is considered one of the international prizes concerned with the preservation of documentary heritage. This prize is granted every two years to individuals, institutions, non-governmental organizations, and other entities that have made exceptional contributions to the preservation of documentary heritage and accessibility to it.

The UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize was established in 2004, in memory of the engraving of the Jikji Book, which is considered the oldest book printed in metal lettering, and is valued at $30,000 US dollars.

The Prize aims to:

- Strengthening the Memory of the World Program established by UNESCO in 1992.

- Honoring institutions and individuals who have made exceptional contributions to preserving documentary heritage.

- Encouraging efforts to preserve documentary heritage and make it available to the public.

Files must be submitted in English or French for a maximum of three candidates, including a summary and description of the candidate’s background and achievements, as well as a summary of the work or results of the work, in addition to supporting documents of great importance, as well as reviewing the way in which the presented work contributed to the presentation and accessibility of documentary heritage.

Nomination files shall be sent directly to the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO-ECSCO-ISESCO) no later than April 25, 2024, so that the National Committee can present the nominations to the relevant technical committee and send the nominations to the organization before April 30, 2024.
