The seminar was attended by Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Prof. Ramadan Batikh, Professor of Public Law at the Faculty; Dr. Rashad Abou El-Enein, Coordinator of the Social Committee; and a large gathering of faculty staff, administrative staff, and students.
The seminar featured a lecture by Major General (Pilot) Staff Dr. Hisham Mohamed Imam El-Halaby, who emphasized that the October War has become a case study taught at military academies worldwide, highlighting determination and strategic planning as key factors behind the victory.
He also recounted the remarkable achievement of the Egyptian Armed Forces in crossing the Suez Canal and breaching three major defensive lines supported by integrated fire plans within just six hours, marking one of the most significant military operations in modern history.
Major General El-Halaby explored key milestones in the Arab Israeli conflict and the liberation of Sinai, addressing several fundamental questions concerning Egypt's political and military history. These included the reasons behind Israel's occupation of Sinai in 1967, the objectives and outcomes of the 1973 October War, Egypt's decision to pursue the path of peace to complete the liberation of Sinai, whether the late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat made the peace decision independently, and the nature of Egyptian sovereignty over Sinai under the peace treaty.

He stressed the importance of preserving the lessons of the October War and passing them on to younger generations. He explained that, following the setback of 1967, Egypt faced exceptionally difficult circumstances, including severe economic pressures, the closure of the Suez Canal, declining resources, and limited military capabilities, all of which posed considerable challenges to launching large-scale offensive operations.
For his part, Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Law, welcomed Major General El-Halaby and the attendees, reaffirming Ain Shams University's commitment to commemorating national occasions, fostering patriotism and a sense of belonging, strengthening intergenerational connections, and sharing national and historical experiences and perspectives with students.
The Dean noted that the October War stands as an inspiring example of success achieved through careful planning, determination, and national unity, offering valuable lessons in overcoming challenges and achieving national objectives.
