Appointment of Prof. Hany El-Sayed Abdel Halim Saad as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, has issued a decision appointing Prof. Hany El-Sayed Abdel Halim Saad, Professor in the Mechanical Power Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, as Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, effective August 24, 2026, for a period of three years.
Prof. Hany El-Sayed Abdel Halim Saad has an extensive academic and administrative career. He was promoted to the rank of Professor in October 2024 and has held several leadership positions, most notably Assistant Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Director of the Mechatronics and Automation Engineering Program since 2018.
He began his academic career as a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Engineering in 2001, following his graduation from the Mechanical Power Engineering Department. He subsequently obtained his Master's and PhD degrees in Combustion and Heat Transfer in 2006 and 2012, respectively, and then progressed through various academic positions until attaining the rank of Professor.
Academically, Prof. Hany El-Sayed led the Mechatronics and Automation Engineering Program toward obtaining local and international accreditation from the German accreditation agency “AQUIN.” He also supervised several student teams that achieved top positions in international competitions for the design of air-conditioning and ventilation systems organized by the global ASHRAE organization. The teams won first place worldwide in 2018 and 2024, and third place from 2020 to 2023.
On the administrative and consultancy levels, he contributed to establishing the Faculty’s Risk Register and Crisis and Disaster Register. He also managed emergency and evacuation plans in coordination with the relevant safety and security authorities. In addition, he contributed to the faculty’s efforts to achieve second place in the Egypt Government Excellence Award in 2023 and third place in 2024.
Prof. Hany El-Sayed has also provided several engineering and design consultations to various entities and institutions, including Ain Shams University Hospitals, the Heart Academy, Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, and the Ain Shams National University project in the New Administrative Capital.
