Ain Shams University Hospitals Celebrate International Nurses Day and Honor Outstanding Nursing Staff

In recognition of the dedicated efforts of nursing staff and in appreciation of their invaluable contributions, as well as to encourage them to continue their commitment and excellence, reaffirming their vital role in enhancing the quality of healthcare services and serving patients and the community, the Central Nursing Administration at Ain Shams University Hospitals organized a celebration marking International Nurses Day. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals.

The celebration was attended by Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Prof. Essam Fakhry, Assistant Executive Director of the Hospitals; and Prof. Manal Abdel Salam, Director of the Central Nursing Administration, along with heads of nursing departments, distinguished nursing team members, representatives of the Nursing Syndicate Committee, and directors of various hospital departments.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Tarek Youssef expressed his pleasure in regularly participating in nursing celebrations, praising the dedication of nursing staff and their outstanding humanitarian and professional role, as well as their effective contribution to the development of the hospital system and the enhancement of healthcare services provided to patients.

For his part, Prof. Essam Fakhry expressed his deep appreciation for the pivotal role played by nursing staff within the healthcare system, emphasizing that nursing professionals are essential partners in the patient’s treatment journey. He noted that their presence alongside patients embodies the concept of a supportive alternative family and serves as a primary source of care and reassurance within the hospital environment.

Prof. Manal Abdel Salam also extended her congratulations during the celebration to the staff of Obour Hospital and the Research Center, commending the efforts that culminated in obtaining international accreditation. She also praised the distinguished role of the hospitals’ Training Department in supporting and enhancing the competencies of nursing personnel. Furthermore, she thanked the Nursing Syndicate Committee for its continuous efforts in supporting and honoring nursing staff, including the recognition of exemplary mothers.

         
   
         

Prof. Manal reaffirmed the continuation of training programs and courses focusing on nursing ethics, stressing the importance of upholding the humanitarian values that distinguish the profession and embody the true meaning of “Angels of Mercy.” She emphasized that the presence of nursing staff alongside patients provides emotional and psychological support that is no less important than the medical care they receive.

On the sidelines of the celebration, Professor Manal Abdel Salam presented shields of appreciation to Prof. Tarek Youssef and Prof. Essam Fakhry in recognition of their continuous support for the nursing sector. Several outstanding nursing staff members from various Ain Shams University Hospitals were also honored.

At the conclusion of the event, the Nursing Syndicate Committee presented the Ideal Mother Shield to Prof. Manal Abdel Salam in recognition of her dedication, humanitarian and professional contributions, and her ongoing support and care for nursing staff, patients, and the wider community.
