Ain Shams University President, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, received a high-level judicial and diplomatic delegation from the People’s Republic of China and the Egyptian Public Prosecution at his office in Al-Zafaran Palace, in the presence of Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, ahead of the launch of the major international seminar “The Chinese Judicial System,” organized by the Faculty of Law under the title “The Chinese Judicial System.”
This seminar embodied the strategic partnership and cooperation between the Faculty, the Chinese Public Prosecution, and the Egyptian Public Prosecution, with the aim of shedding light on international judicial mechanisms and systems, while exchanging distinguished legal and academic expertise between both sides.
The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Law; and Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim El-Shafie, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.

The seminar was delivered by Counselor Feng Jian, Chief Prosecutor and Attorney General of the People’s Procuratorate of Guangdong Province, China.
During his opening speech, Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Law, expressed his pride in hosting this exceptional legal event, emphasizing that organizing the seminar in cooperation with judicial bodies as significant as the Egyptian and Chinese Public Prosecution reflects the academic and pioneering role played by the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University in engaging with global legal systems.
He also praised this cooperation, which reflects the strategic vision of the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University and its continuous openness to all international legal systems and judicial pathways, both nationally and internationally, enriching legal knowledge and keeping pace with global developments.
Prof. Hossam El-Ahwany, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University and the first scholar to publish a legal academic paper in Chinese, stressed the importance and centrality of the Chinese legal and judicial experience and its continuous development in line with its unique nature. He pointed to the adoption of the new Chinese Civil Code in 2024, describing it as an advanced model worthy of study and research due to its innovative concepts and integrated regulatory provisions addressing vital issues such as consumer protection and others.

This came during his participation in the scientific seminar organized by the faculty, where he recalled his previous judicial and academic experiences with China dating back to 1999, when he participated in a conference in Beijing to present the Latin legal system and its implementation mechanisms.
At the beginning of his speech, the Attorney General of Guangdong Province of the People’s Republic of China expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Ain Shams University and the Faculty of Law for their warm welcome and generous hospitality, conveying the greetings of the Chinese Public Prosecution delegation to the attendees.
He affirmed the depth of the distinguished historical relations between Egypt and China, noting that this official academic visit represents an extension of the bonds of friendship and ongoing legal cooperation between the two countries, as well as an important step toward enhancing the exchange of judicial and legislative expertise and perspectives.
In this context, he presented a comprehensive overview of the judicial system in China, highlighting the features of the new Chinese Civil Code, which entered into force in 2021, and the recent legislative developments within the judicial structure that meet the demands of the modern era.
He also expressed his aspiration and full confidence that the coming period would witness further fruitful legal cooperation and academic exchange between Chinese law faculties and the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University, in a manner that serves mutual interests and enriches the legal systems of both sides.

The seminar witnessed a large attendance of faculty members, researchers, and students, alongside representatives from the judicial and diplomatic corps.
The sessions featured a comprehensive review of the justice system in China, the role of the Chinese Public Prosecution in protecting society and enforcing the law, in addition to mechanisms of international judicial cooperation between Egypt and China in combating crime and exchanging legal assistance.
The event was attended by Counselor Ahmed Hassan, Head of Prosecution at the Judicial Inspection Department; Prof. Hossam El-Ahwany, representative of the Egyptian Public Prosecution in international judicial cooperation programs and institutions and former Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University; and Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University. The event was professionally coordinated and organized by the Faculty’s International Collaboration Office under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Fathy Khalifa, Director of the Office, and Dr. Basma Adel El-Son, Deputy Director of the Office.
The event concluded with an open discussion session and responses to attendees’ inquiries, followed by honoring members of the Chinese and Egyptian delegations in recognition of their valuable contributions to the success of this distinguished scientific event.
At the conclusion of the official university tour, the delegation of the Public Prosecution of the People’s Republic of China visited the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University, where they were welcomed by Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Institute.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed the significant efforts exerted by the Institute in teaching the Chinese language, promoting culture, and exchanging knowledge and sciences among Egyptian students, making the Institute a vibrant civilizational and cultural bridge that strengthens the strategic relations and historic friendly ties between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People’s Republic of China across all academic and cultural levels.
