A Delegation from the Faculty of Law Visits the Correctional and Rehabilitation Center in 15 May City... Faculty Administration Extends Appreciation and Gratitude to the Ministry of Interior

The Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University organized an extensive scientific field visit to the Correction and Rehabilitation Center in 15 May City, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, as part of the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Faculty’s Student Affairs Sector and the Ministry. The visit was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Rami Maher Galal, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty, and was coordinated by Prof. Mohamed El-Shafie, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.

The visit included a large delegation from the Faculty headed by Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty, and included a number of faculty members and teaching assistants, in addition to the Student Union, students participating in various activities, and more than one hundred male and female students representing the Faculty’s three study sections: Arabic, English, and French.

   
   

The delegation began its tour by inspecting the medical complex, which includes advanced medical facilities equipped according to the highest international standards across various sectors. The delegation then visited one of the rehabilitation centers, which includes integrated facilities such as kitchens, sports fields, mosques, churches, and schools. The program also included a visit to Rehabilitation Center (4), designated for women, where the delegation learned about advanced vocational training programs for handicrafts, as well as educational and recreational activities.

The field tour also included a visit to the center’s industrial zone, which contains factories for tahini halva, biscuits, and other industries, in addition to the agricultural area with its greenhouses, fish farms, poultry production, and livestock facilities. The visit concluded with a distinguished ceremony featuring musical and entertainment performances presented by several inmates, in a scene reflecting the success of rehabilitation programs in supporting social reintegration and developing their capabilities.

At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Mohamed El-Shafie, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, extended their sincere thanks, deep appreciation, and gratitude to the Ministry of Interior – Community Protection Sector for the warm reception, generous hospitality, and outstanding organization provided to the delegation. They also commended the distinguished arrangement of the visit and the honorable image reflected the Ministry’s efforts to develop the correction and rehabilitation system in accordance with the latest international standards.

The faculty administration explained that the visit aimed to enhance students’ legal and societal awareness and deepen concepts of human rights, while highlighting the commitment of Egyptian institutions to implementing and enforcing these principles within the framework of the New Republic. The visit also sought to connect the theoretical aspects of legal studies with practical reality and support the faculty’s plans to develop academic curricula, particularly the Criminology and Penology course—through integrating successful applied experiences from the Community Protection Sector into academic content.

The academic delegation participating in the visit included: Dr. Walid Awad, Lecturer of Philosophy and History of Law; Dr. Sayed Abdel Nabi, Lecturer of Criminal Law; Dr. Yosra Shaaban, Lecturer of Civil Law and member of the Legislative Reform Committee and the National Council for Women; Dr. Ahmed Mohsen, Lecturer of Commercial Law; Dr. Amir Ahmed, Lecturer of Philosophy and History of Law; Dr. Mohamed Naguib, Lecturer of Philosophy and History of Law; Dr. Ahmed Zuhair, Lecturer in the Department of Economics; Dr. Mohamed Hamza, Lecturer in the Department of Economics; Dr. Nour Abdel Halim, Lecturer of Criminal Law; and Mr. Mohamed Wahba, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Civil Law.

At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized the strong cooperation and integration among the various state institutions in serving the goals of comprehensive development and human advancement. He also reaffirmed the faculty delegation’s pride in this valuable experience and expressed the Faculty of Law’s aspiration for more fruitful future partnerships that serve society and promote the values of justice and humanity.
