Ain Shams University honors a distinguished group of its former presidents, scholars, and young researchers at the conclusion of its 13th Scientific Conference, titled: "75 Years of Excellence and Leadership... A look at the Past and a Sun Lighting the Future.'"

The 13th edition of Ain Shams University’s Scientific Conference concluded in conjunction with the university’s 75th anniversary, held under the title: “75 Years of Excellence and Leadership… A Look at the Past and a Sun Lighting the Future.”

The closing ceremony took place under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, along with a distinguished group of former university presidents, deans, and faculty members.

In his address, Prof. Mohamed Diaa extended his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the attendees for their active participation, which added genuine momentum to this major scientific event and reflected the university’s esteemed position in the hearts of its members and institutional partners alike.

He highlighted that the two-day conference sessions were filled with constructive discussions, scientific depth, and forward-thinking ideas across various fields. The sessions showcased the university’s contributions to national mega projects, achievements of its university hospitals, and the promising launch of Ain Shams National University, which stands as a gateway to the future.

The conference also explored crucial issues such as innovation, digital transformation, diversity, equity, and inclusion, in addition to emphasizing the international dimension of the university’s mission. These discussions reflect the university’s ongoing commitment to openness, global engagement, and keeping pace with developments in all domains. The conference also celebrated the outstanding achievements of the university’s scholars in international publishing.

Prof. Mohamed expressed his pride in celebrating the university’s Diamond Jubilee, marking 75 years since its founding. He honored a group of former university presidents who left a lasting impact on the institution’s legacy, contributing to its status as a beacon of knowledge and excellence over the decades. Those honored included:

Prof. Saleh Hashem, Former President of the Association of Arab Universities

Prof. Ali El Abd, Former University President

Prof. Ahmed Zaki Badr, Former University President

Prof. Maged El-Deeb, Former University President

Prof.. Hussein Essa, Former University President

Prof. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Private Universities

Prof.. Mahmoud El-Metini, Member of the Advisory Council of Scientists and Experts in Egypt

The ceremony also honored a distinguished group of scientists and researchers — from pioneering figures to young researchers — who have embodied the value of science through their efforts. This included recipients of the State Awards for Excellence and Encouragement, University Awards, and two special awards in the field of physics, all in appreciation and encouragement of academic distinction.

Prof. Ghada Farouk was also honored for her outstanding efforts in ensuring the conference reflected the distinguished stature of Ain Shams University. Members of the conference’s organizing committee were likewise recognized for their dedication.

During the closing session, Prof. Ghada Farouk and Prof. Amani Osama Kamel presented a number of the conference’s key recommendations, including:

Affirming that non-profit national universities affiliated with public universities align with the state’s strategy to provide advanced educational services that keep pace with rapid global developments, ensuring diversity and interdisciplinary applications of knowledge.

Emphasizing Ain Shams University’s active participation in national projects, including urban planning, agricultural and industrial security, healthcare development, and the practical application of scientific research to address societal challenges, along with contributing to legal and legislative frameworks and incorporating governance principles.

The conference also recommended:

Revaluating methods of raising community awareness among various segments of society and the need to embed principles of empowerment, diversity, equity, and inclusion across Egyptian society.

Advocating for the prudent use of artificial intelligence in education and research, and the effective investment of AI tools to foster creativity and innovation among students.

Promoting integration between academia and industry to localize production, drawing on universities as centers of expertise and harnessing the innovative ideas of young researchers and students.

In conclusion, the University President affirmed that this conference was not merely an occasion to celebrate the past, but a platform to envision the future, reaffirm the values of leadership and innovation, and outline the next phase in Ain Shams University’s journey toward its centennial milestone
