Prof. Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention, expressed his pride and delight at the remarkable progress the conference has witnessed year after year. He emphasized that what we see today is a continuation of the long-standing tradition of Ain Shams University, a product of the strong history of the Faculty of Medicine, which is one of the oldest medical institutions in Egypt and the Arab world, and a result of the fruitful efforts and tireless work of the members of the Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Department.
He pointed out that the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University boasts distinguished scientists and researchers from around the world, adding that the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, specifically at Ain Shams University, was among the first bone marrow transplant units in Egypt and the Arab world, serving countless patients in Egypt and across the region.

She emphasized that the unit represents a distinguished model in serving the community and meeting its aspirations through the qualitative leap in the level of healthcare and community services provided, which effectively contributes to alleviating the suffering of citizens.
In the same context, Prof. Rania Salah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Student Affairs, commended the unprecedented attendance of a number of medical students, expressing her appreciation for their keenness to engage with scientific activities and their pursuit of knowledge beyond the confines of traditional curricula, reflecting an advanced scientific awareness.
The comprehensive renovations and upgrades are beginning to take shape

He noted that the initial stages of these renovations and upgrades began during his tenure as Director of the Internal Medicine Hospital. He expressed his pride in the ongoing efforts that have led the unit to its current advanced and modern state, and emphasized that this development is a fundamental pillar for providing outstanding medical support to patients, which is a strong and honorable addition to Ain Shams University as a whole.
For his part, Prof. Tariq Majid, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, praised the vital and humanitarian role played by the Hematology Unit, especially in serving and supporting patients who are unable to afford treatment. He explained that the unit receives increasing numbers of cases on an ongoing basis, stressing that the medical and therapeutic services provided have witnessed a remarkable leap and development to keep pace with this increase and ensure the provision of the best possible health care for patients.

Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Moaty, Dean of the National Cancer Institute, also praised the continuous efforts made by the Hematology Department at Ain Shams University in providing specialized medical care to blood patients nationwide, noting the ongoing expansions that the department is witnessing to accommodate the increasing numbers of patients and provide distinguished medical service.
Prof. Mohamed Moussa, Professor of Hematology and Head of the Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Department, confirmed that the two-day conference aimed to bring together scientists and researchers in the fields of clinical hematology and bone marrow transplantation to exchange expertise, discuss the latest developments in the field, and explore new medications and their effects on various hematological diseases and bone marrow transplantation, as well as their effectiveness in managing the course of these diseases.
He added that this conference serves as an important platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge among specialists, contributes to strengthening cooperation between different medical institutions, and aims to improve healthcare and develop treatment methods in this vital field.
For her part, Dr. Gihan Kamal, the conference chair, explained that the conference witnessed broad participation from an elite group of consultants and professors of hematology from Egyptian universities, institutes and hospitals, in addition to participation from various countries such as the United States, England and Saudi Arabia. The conference was also attended by a large group of professors of hematology and bone marrow transplantation from Ain Shams University and the rest of Egypt’s universities, educational institutes, the army and foreign universities.
The conference addressed the latest research and medical developments in the field of hematology and bone marrow transplantation.
The conference, held on June 3rd and 4th, covered numerous important topics and the latest research and medical advancements in hematology and bone marrow transplantation. It included medical courses and workshops for new doctors and clinical pharmacists.
The conference also discussed the treatment of advanced cases of immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and sickle cell anemia, as well as the latest medical diagnostic methods for bleeding and clotting disorders and various blood cancers. A special session was dedicated to discussing modern and advanced techniques for autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation and the medical management of patients with myeloid and lymphocytic leukemias.
The conference recommended the use of modern treatment approaches, including immunotherapies and biological therapies, and their crucial role in treating such cases and altering the prognosis of these tumors.
