In support of scientific research and to promote participation in prestigious international awards, and under the patronage of Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Ain Shams University invites qualified faculty staff to apply for the ninth cycle of the Sharjah Linguistic and Lexical Studies Award in 2026. This award, announced by the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy, aims to develop intellectual and linguistic skills, enhance rigorous scholarly output, revitalize intellectual corpora, and advance linguistic and lexicographical studies.
The award aims to:
• Stimulate scientific research in the field of Arabic language.
• Support modern linguistic and lexicographical studies.
• Highlight distinguished scholarly efforts in Qur'anic discourse analysis and lexicographical studies.
Award Categories
The ninth cycle is open for submissions of scholarly works—published books with an International Standard Book Number (ISBN)—within the following two categories:
1. Linguistic Studies
Linguistic and rhetorical studies in Qur'anic discourse
This includes:
• Grammatical or morphological analysis
• Rhetorical studies
• Lexicographical studies
• Modern stylistic studies
• And other branches of linguistic sciences that address the verses of the Holy Qur'an and highlight their meanings and miraculous nature
2. Lexicographical Studies
Modern lexicographical studies
This includes:
• Research and studies related to lexicography
• Modern lexicographical efforts in language and the humanities
The award is granted to four winners (two winners in each category):
• First Prize: US$30,000
• Second Prize: US$20,000
• A nomination letter approved by the college.
• Nominee's contact information (name, position, email, WhatsApp number).
• A recent statement of status.
• Justification for nomination.
• Proof of registration in the university's awards database.
Deadlines
• Deadline for receiving nominations from faculties: July 12, 2026
• Deadline of applying for award: July 31, 2026
