Ain Shams Specialized Hospital in Obour receives international accreditation according to GAHAR standards... a strategic step that reinforces the university's leadership in healthcare.

As part of ongoing efforts to promote a culture of quality and enhance patient safety, the General Authority for Accreditation and Healthcare Regulation, headed by Dr. Ahmed Taha, announced the latest decisions of the Supreme Committee for Accreditation of Healthcare Facilities. These decisions included granting full or preliminary accreditation, or renewing accreditation, to 23 healthcare facilities from both the public and private sectors. This accreditation was granted in accordance with the internationally recognized "GAHAR" standards of ISQua, reflecting a growing commitment among healthcare providers to implementing the highest quality standards.

The committee's decisions included granting full accreditation to Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital in Obour, Qalyubia Governorate, after it fulfilled all the necessary requirements and procedures. This step reflects the adoption by university sector facilities of a quality methodology as a sustainable approach based on continuous improvement and achieving the highest levels of patient safety.

The accreditation committee report also noted that the Kafr El-Sheikh Oncology Center received full accreditation according to the GAHAR standards, reflecting the facility's commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare that places the patient at the heart of the service system and ensures safe and effective treatment services in accordance with best global practices.

As part of establishing a culture of institutional quality, the decisions included the renewal of full and initial accreditation for a number of healthcare facilities, including:

- Fever, Digestive System, and Liver Hospital in Shebin El-Kom, Menoufia (initial accreditation renewal)

- Kafr Ashma Family Medicine Unit in Menoufia (initial accreditation renewal)

- Tayba Medical Analysis Laboratory – Main Branch in Dokki, Giza (full accreditation renewal)

In light of efforts to develop primary healthcare services, the committee approved granting initial accreditation to (11) family medicine centers and units in several governorates, namely:

- Hadayek El-Asima Family Medicine Center in Cairo

- Sarsamous Family Medicine Unit in Menoufia

- Tida Family Medicine Unit in Kafr El-Sheikh

- El-Karakat Family Medicine Unit in Kafr El-Sheikh

- El-Rasif Family Medicine Unit in Kafr El-Sheikh

- Abu Galal Family Medicine Unit in Dakahlia

- Mit Zanqar Family Medicine Unit in Dakahlia

- Kom El-Nour Family Medicine Center in Dakahlia

- Abu Bakr El-Siddiq Family Medicine Unit in Giza

- Masjid Moussa Family Medicine Unit in Giza

- El-Sanaqra Family Medicine Unit in Alexandria

In a related development, the private sector continued its progress in implementing quality standards. Al-Ghandour Hospital in Sharqia Governorate received initial accreditation, while Al-Khair Wal-Baraka Radiology Center in Ismailia Governorate was granted full accreditation.

The committee's decisions also revealed the accreditation of five pharmacies, a step that supports the integration of the comprehensive healthcare system and enhances the quality of pharmaceutical services provided to citizens. These pharmacies are:

- Dr. Mina Anis Pharmacy in Ismailia

- Al-Dahshan Pharmacy in Ismailia

- Dr. Noura Fayez Pharmacy in Ismailia

- Dr. Hashmat Adel Sadek Pharmacy in Ismailia

- Dr. Aya Fathi Shaarawi New Pharmacy in Suez

Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the General Authority for Accreditation and Healthcare Regulation, praised the unprecedented demand and growing awareness among pharmacies regarding obtaining "GAHAR" accreditation. This reflects a genuine desire to improve the level of pharmaceutical services provided to citizens. He emphasized the crucial role of quality standards in strengthening oversight and regulating the drug management system within the healthcare sector, ultimately achieving the highest levels of drug safety within the comprehensive health insurance system.

The Chairman affirmed that expanding accreditation contributes to translating the quality of healthcare into measurable outcomes, whether in safety rates, service efficiency, or patient satisfaction. This, in turn, supports evidence-based healthcare decision-making and enhances the sustainable development of the healthcare system.
