Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Karim El-Batouti, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Prof. Walaa Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University organized a specialized scientific seminar titled “The Importance of Occupational Safety and Health and Its Role in Preserving the Individual and Society.”
The seminar witnessed wide attendance from doctors, administrators, technicians, and students. In her keynote lecture, Dr. Dalia Saeed, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Office for West and Central Cairo, highlighted the vital role of occupational safety as a strategic investment in individual health and social stability, rather than merely an administrative procedure.
She explained that adherence to safety standards can reduce lost workdays by up to 40%, emphasizing the importance of protecting healthcare personnel from specific risks such as exposure to chemicals and radiation.
The seminar also included interactive discussions on prevention mechanisms, stressing the necessity of continuous training for staff and adherence to the use of personal protective equipment in accordance with international standards issued by the World Health Organization.
The event concluded with recommendations emphasizing the importance of enhancing preventive awareness within academic and healthcare institutions to ensure a safe and sustainable working environment for all.
