To strengthen international cooperation…Ain Shams University receives a high-level delegation from Carleton University

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its international standing and expand avenues of academic and research collaboration with leading global universities, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, welcomed a high-level delegation from Carleton University. The delegation was headed by Wisdom Tettey, President of Carleton University, and included Prof. Rafik Goubran, Vice President for International Affairs and Research and a member of the Presidential Advisory Council. The visit aimed to explore prospects for cooperation in education and research, as well as the exchange of students and faculty members.

         
   
         

The meeting was attended by Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector; Prof. Mohamed Saleheen, Vice President of Ain Shams National University for Academic Affairs; and Prof. Aya Yassin, Executive Director of the University’s Artificial Intelligence Center.

Both sides held an extensive meeting that reviewed the rich history of the two institutions and highlighted their distinguished academic programs. The discussion also shed light on Ain Shams National University and its academic offerings, in addition to exploring potential collaboration in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science.

         
   
         

The talks focused on several key areas, including the possibility of launching dual degree programs that would enable students to obtain accredited degrees from both universities across various disciplines, activating joint research partnerships in areas of mutual interest, and establishing clear frameworks for student exchange through short-term study or training programs, thereby enriching students’ cultural and academic experiences.

The President of Ain Shams University expressed his pride in this step, emphasizing that internationalization is a top priority for the university. He noted that cooperation with Carleton University represents a significant addition, given the Canadian university’s distinguished reputation in innovation and scientific research.

For his part, the President of Carleton University praised the advanced infrastructure of Ain Shams University, as well as the high academic caliber of its students and researchers, expressing optimism about translating these discussions into tangible cooperation agreements soon.

On the sidelines of the visit, the delegation toured the Zaafaran Palace Museum to learn about the history of the palace and Ain Shams University, and to take commemorative photos.
