A Strategic Partnership Between the Ministry of Health and Ain Shams University to Support Medical Investment and Scientific Research

As part of a strategic step aimed at enhancing the efficiency of healthcare services and supporting economic decision-making in the medical sector, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and Population and the University.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, by Dr. Rasha El-Sayed El-Sharkawy, Head of the Central Administration for Strategic Management at the Ministry. On behalf of the University President, the agreement was signed by Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Ain Shams University.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen affirmed that the agreement aligns with the state’s efforts to implement a comprehensive and integrated healthcare system, noting that the collaboration will be carried out within an institutional framework that ensures effective exchange of expertise.

He added that the integration of roles between academic institutions and executive bodies represents the “true guarantee” for sustainable development in the medical sector, emphasizing the University’s commitment to providing full technical and research support to ensure the success of this partnership and translate it into tangible outcomes on the ground.

For her part, Dr. Rasha El-Sharkawy explained that the memorandum constitutes a vital link between the academic and practical sectors, particularly in areas such as healthcare service pricing evaluation, assessment of the economic impact of preventive services, and other fields covered by the agreement.

Prof. Farid Moharram, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, stated that the University is mobilizing its academic and consultative capabilities to support the Ministry of Health’s efforts in market evaluation and governance studies, ensuring the delivery of healthcare services that meet the expectations of Egyptian citizens and align with international standards.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research.

This initiative comes within the framework of Egypt Vision 2030, which places the advancement of the healthcare system and the achievement of sustainable development at the forefront of its priorities through integrating scientific research into public policy formulation.
