Ain Shams University wins 79 medals at the conclusion of the 53rd El-Rifai Martyr Tournament for Egyptian Universities

Ain Shams University teams continued their outstanding performance in the 53rd El-Rifai Martyr Egyptian Universities Tournament, which serves as a simulation of the African Universities Games. The tournament was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, with administrative coordination and supervision by Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General for the Education and Student Affairs Sector. The activities were implemented by the Sports Activity Department of the General Administration of Youth Welfare.

During competitions held on January 30 and 31 and February 1, the university’s teams won many medals across several sports, including modern pentathlon, athletics, badminton, volleyball, and karate.

The results achieved during this phase were:

  • 9 gold medals
  • 8 silver medals
  • 24 bronze medals

The badminton award ceremonies, held at the indoor hall of the Sports Activity Department at Ain Shams University, were attended by Egyptian Universities Sports Federation Executive Director Dr. Mamdouh Sayed Ahmed, along with Ms. Asmaa Ali Khater, Director General of the General Administration of Youth Welfare.

Attendees praised the high level of organization and warm reception, commending the efforts of the General Administration of Youth Welfare and affirming that the organization reflected the name and standing of Ain Shams University on the university sports scene.

With these achievements, the total number of medals won by Ain Shams University teams during the simulation period, from January 25 to February 1, reached 79 medals (gold, silver, and bronze) across the following sports: badminton, table tennis, modern pentathlon, fins swimming, wrestling, fencing, judo, volleyball, karate, and athletics.

The overall medal tally was as follows:

  • 24 gold medals
  • 20 silver medals
  • 35 bronze medals
