Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, attended the opening ceremony of the ninth edition of the Al-Ahram Energy Conference, which commenced today under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, under the title “Energy Mix: Investment Opportunities and the Future of Development.”
The conference was held with high-level participation, including Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Eng. Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Eng. Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector; Eng. Mohamed Salah El-Din, Minister of State for Military Production; and Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports. Also in attendance was Yasser Sobhy, representing the Minister of Finance, in addition to a number of former ministers and governors, foremost among them Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo; Eng. Adel El-Naggar, Governor of Giza; and Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Qalyubia, along with a distinguished group of experts, officials, and leaders from electricity and energy authorities and companies, the petroleum sector, the public business sector, and investment bodies.

The conference discusses the most significant global transformations in the energy mix, trends in renewable energy, fossil fuels, and nuclear energy, as well as investment opportunities in the energy sector, models of public–private partnerships, challenges associated with the energy transition, and policies supporting sustainable development.
The conference also addresses legislation and policies that stimulate investment, trends toward regional integration and international cooperation, and Egypt’s role and promising opportunities as a regional energy hub, considering its strategic vision and national plans for comprehensive development.
The participation of the President of Ain Shams University in this important event underscores the University’s active role in supporting major national issues and its commitment to engaging with strategic files related to energy and sustainable development. It also reflects the University’s dedication to strengthening the link between academia and decision-making, contributing to the preparation of scientific and research cadres capable of meeting future requirements.
