A cooperation protocol between Ain Shams University Hospitals, Guy's Hospital, St. Thomas Hospital, NHS and Essentia Trending Limited

Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, signed a joint cooperation protocol with Guy’s & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust and Essentia Trending Limited on the development program of the Ain Shams Oncology Center.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and David Sharmpton, Managing Director of Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, on behalf of the President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Dr. Samia Abdo, Deputy Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Dr. Tarek Youssef, Director of Demerdash University Hospital, Prof. Dr.. Amr Shafiq, Director of Oncology Hospital, Prof. Dr. Ehab Mostafa, Head of Oncology Department, Prof. Dr. Sherin Fawzy, an official of conventions at the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Ghannam, a cardiovascular consultant, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Head of Planning Department, Faculty of Engineering, Ms. Suda Puri, Department of Marketing, Ms. Joe Tillman, Senior Intensive Care Nursing at Guys and St. Thomas Hospitals, and Prof. Afnan Hashem, director of international relations at the hospital.

         
   
         

In his speech, A. Dr.. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, said that this cooperation is part of our project to build the Medical City at Ain Shams University, and expressed his happiness to cooperate with Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals and their contribution to the establishment of a new building for oncology, as well as the development of the two existing buildings at the level Engineering in cooperation with the advisory office of Ain Shams University.

Mr. David Sharmpton, Managing Director of Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals added that Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals are looking forward to working with colleagues at Ain Shams University Hospital, especially in the field of oncology and building a medical edifice similar to its counterparts in the United Kingdom.

While Prof. Dr. Shahera Samir, welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of cooperation between Ain Shams University hospitals and international hospitals, which is a trend undertaken by Ain Shams University to put university hospitals in the ranks of international hospitals.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk is pleased to offer this kind of cooperation, which will bear fruit on thousands of cancer patients. Dr. Amr Shafik, Director of Oncology Hospital, expressed his great happiness in cooperating with Royal Brompton and Harefield, wishing a better future for Ain Shams University Medical City with the presence of a state-of-the-art oncology hospital that seeks international accreditation, which contributes to providing a distinguished medical service with a high degree of professionalism.

It is worth noting that Guy's & St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust had previously cooperated with Ain Shams University Hospitals in November last year, in the presence of the British Ambassador to Egypt.

This collaboration came with the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals in London, part of Guy's & St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust, in the field of cardiothoracic surgery services especially aortic surgery, clinical system development, education and research excellence allowing for exceptional and sustainable service in university hospitals.
