In a scientific achievement reflecting the excellence of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and the faculty’s commitment to fostering a culture of scientific research and preparing a new generation of physician-researchers, seven student teams presented outstanding research papers and proposals at the 29th Annual Conference of the Egyptian Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The conference was held in Alexandria, bringing together leading professors and experts in cardiothoracic surgery from Egypt and around the world.

This participation took place under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and in line with the directives of Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ain Shams University Hospitals, to support scientific research, encourage students to engage in research activities at an early stage, and actively participate in scientific conferences and forums. These efforts aim to strengthen students' academic and research capabilities and keep pace with rapid developments in the medical field.

The student competition was held under the patronage of Prof. Rania Salah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs, with the aim of preparing and presenting research protocols in cardiothoracic surgery. It was coordinated by Dr. Ahmed Samir Bakr, Student Activities Coordinator and Director of the E-Learning Center, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Ashraf Abdel Hamid, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and a member of the conference's organizing committee.

Following the evaluation of the research submissions, seven student teams were selected to represent the faculty and present their research at the conference. A dedicated scientific session entitled "Undergraduate Competition" was organized to allow the teams to present and discuss their research projects before a distinguished panel of cardiothoracic surgery specialists and experts.

The session was chaired by Prof. Rania Salah and featured outstanding scientific presentations that reflected the students' academic and research capabilities. The presentations demonstrated their skills in preparing, presenting, and discussing research proposals using a scientific approach, within a competitive environment that provided valuable opportunities to engage with experienced specialists.

The session featured a scientific competition among the participating teams to select the best research presentation. The first-place team received a cash prize of EGP 10,000, presented by Prof. Ismail Sallam, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, in recognition of the team's excellence and research efforts.

For her part, Prof. Rania Salah expressed her pride in the outstanding performance of the Faculty of Medicine students at Ain Shams University. She praised their dedication to preparing and developing their research proposals, as well as the competence, confidence, and expertise they demonstrated while presenting and discussing their work before leading professors and specialists.
