Full Accreditation Renewed for Three Years for Martyr Ahmed Shawky Geriatric Medicine Hospital at Ain Shams University

In another achievement added to the record of institutional excellence of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Martyr Ahmed Shawky Geriatric Medicine Hospital has successfully secured the renewal of its full accreditation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) for a period of three years. This achievement reflects the hospital’s commitment to implementing quality and accreditation standards and enhancing the quality of medical services provided to older adults in accordance with quality and patient safety requirements.

The renewal of accreditation crowns a series of coordinated efforts undertaken under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University Hospitals; and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals. These efforts involved the hospital’s management, headed by Prof. Mohamed El-Saadany, Hospital Director, all hospital staff, the Central Quality Management Department, and the hospital’s Quality Team, who contributed to strengthening operational systems, implementing quality standards, and fulfilling accreditation requirements.

Martyr Ahmed Shawky Geriatric Medicine Hospital is one of Ain Shams University Hospitals and the first university hospital specializing in geriatric medicine in Egypt and the Middle East.

It is worth noting that the hospital initially obtained preliminary accreditation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation in August 2022, followed by full accreditation in July 2023, culminating in the renewal of its full accreditation for another three years. This milestone reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of quality and improving institutional performance.

The hospital provides specialized medical services through an integrated healthcare system. It also places particular emphasis on providing palliative care for patients suffering from advanced or life-threatening illnesses, helping improve their quality of life and ensuring healthcare that addresses their physical, psychological, and social needs.

The renewal of full accreditation reflects Ain Shams University Hospitals’ commitment to continuously developing their medical services, strengthening compliance with quality and patient safety standards, and consolidating their position in providing specialized and comprehensive healthcare, particularly for groups requiring highly specialized medical attention, foremost among them older adults.
