With reference to reports circulated on some social media pages regarding the academic dismissal of several students from the Faculty of Specific Education, Ain Shams University would like to clarify the following facts:

The University confirms that the measures being taken are in accordance with the Credit Hours System Regulations currently in force at the faculty and do not constitute a new or sudden decision. They are also unrelated to any change in the faculty’s leadership, as the regulations, since each student’s enrollment, clearly stipulated the requirements for continuing their studies, as well as the conditions governing academic warnings and dismissal.

Students were notified of academic warnings progressively, with each warning appearing on the student’s online portal following the announcement of their results. The faculty maintains electronic records documenting these warnings. Furthermore, the warnings were not issued all at once, but over successive semesters, giving students sufficient time to improve their academic performance.

The University further clarifies that the information circulated reflects confusion between Article (22), which concerns academic workload and allows students with a cumulative GPA of 1.6 or higher to register for a full academic load, and Article (34), which governs the requirements for continuing studies and requires a cumulative GPA of 2.0, in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the regulations. Therefore, allowing a student to register for a full academic load does not mean that an academic warning is waived or that the requirements for continuing studies at the faculty no longer apply.

In the interest of the students, the Faculty and the University have reviewed the individual cases and appeals submitted through the relevant councils and committees. They have also considered several proposals concerning certain provisions of the Credit Hours System Regulations, while remaining committed to the regulations currently in force and ensuring fairness, equal opportunities, and equal treatment for all students.

The University confirms that no final decision has yet been made to dismiss the students whose cases are under review. A total of 522 cases falling within the academic status in question are currently undergoing a thorough, case-by-case review by the relevant University authorities. This process aims to ensure that all academic and regulatory aspects relating to each student are fully examined and that no final decision is taken until all review and assessment procedures stipulated by the regulations have been exhausted. This reflects the University’s commitment to safeguarding its students’ future and ensuring that every student’s academic status is reviewed thoroughly and fairly.

The faculty maintains a detailed record of each student’s academic status, in addition to documented records of academic warnings issued through the electronic platform, ensuring that each case is addressed based on the student’s actual academic record and the provisions of the applicable regulations.

Ain Shams University emphasizes that the interests of its students remain a top priority and that the enforcement of academic regulations is not intended to harm any student. Rather, it aims to uphold fairness, equal opportunities, and academic standards, while ensuring that all appeals and proposals received are considered through the appropriate institutional and legal channels.

The University also stresses that changes in academic leadership do not result in changes to the regulations governing the educational process. The measures currently being taken represent the implementation of existing and applicable regulations and are not personal decisions associated with the faculty’s current administration.
