In line with Ain Shams University’s commitment to promoting a culture of excellence and creativity, supporting the active participation of Faculty Staff, researchers, and creative professionals in prestigious Arab and international awards, and enhancing the University’s presence and the contributions of its members in the fields of thought, literature, culture, translation, and publishing, and under the patronage of Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, the University announces the opening of nominations for the 21st Sheikh Zayed Book Award 2026–2027.

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award is one of the most prestigious Arab awards in the fields of literature, culture, and thought. It is presented to creative individuals, intellectuals, authors, researchers, publishers, and young talents in recognition of their outstanding contributions to authorship, translation, the humanities, and culture, and their significant impact on enriching cultural, literary, and social life, in accordance with scientific and objective criteria.

Award Categories

The award accepts submissions and nominations in 10 diverse categories, including:

1. Development and State Building

2. Children’s and Young Adult Literature

3. Young Author

4. Translation

5. Literature

6. Cultural Personality of the Year

7. Arabic Culture in Other Languages

8. Arts and Literary Criticism

9. Manuscript Editing

10. Publishing and Cultural Technologies

These categories provide broad opportunities for individuals with distinguished academic, literary, intellectual, and cultural contributions to compete for one of the prestigious Arab awards that support creativity, encourage authorship, translation, and publishing, and enhance the presence of Arab culture at both the regional and international levels.

Key Nomination Requirements

Nomination applications are subject to a set of rules and criteria, the most important of which are:

A nominee may submit only one work to one of the award categories.

The work must not have been nominated for any other award either directly or on behalf of another party, during the same year.

The nominated work must have an internationally recognized standard identifier appropriate to its nature, such as an ISBN or ISSN, or other relevant standard identification numbers.

The work must not have previously won another Arab or international award.

The same work may be nominated again, provided that it meets the specified eligibility period for nomination and new copies of the work are submitted in accordance with the award regulations.

Faculty Staff, researchers, and creative professionals at Ain Shams University wishing to apply for nomination must provide the following documents:

An official nomination letter approved by the faculty.

Nominee’s details: name, position, email address, and WhatsApp number.

A recent employment status statement indicating that the nominee has no disciplinary penalties.

Justification for the nomination and the distinguishing features of the nominated work or contribution.

An updated curriculum vitae of the nominee.

Proof of registration in the Ain Shams University Awards Database through the designated registration link.
