In line with the ongoing efforts to enhance the academic and professional capabilities of faculty members, a specialized English-medium teaching qualification program was launched and concluded with a grand ceremony marking the graduation of its first class.

The program was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy, Dean of the Faculty of Business; and Prof. Safaa Shehata, Dean of the Faculty of Education.

The program was initiated by the Faculty of Business as a pioneering initiative and was implemented in strategic partnership with the Faculty of Education, reflecting the integration of academic efforts within Ain Shams University.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Faculty of Education on Saturday, June 20, witnessed distinguished academic attendance from both faculties. From the Faculty of Education, attendees included Prof. Hala Mahmoud Mohamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Abdel Nasser Mohamed Rashad, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Hani Nady Youssef Barsoom, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Zeinab Ali El-Naggar, Professor of English Curriculum and Instruction.

From the Faculty of Business, attendees included Prof. Mohamed Morsi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Amr El-Etreby, Professor of Applied Statistics and former Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Bassam El-Ahmady, Academic Coordinator of the English Section; and Prof. Amr Awad, Professor of Business Administration.

The ceremony also witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of faculty staff from both sides, in addition to the honored program participants.

An Innovative Idea Implemented for the First Time

In her speech during the ceremony, Prof. Safaa Shehata, Dean of the Faculty of Education, expressed her sincere appreciation to the Dean of the Faculty of Business for this outstanding initiative and for providing the Faculty of Education with the opportunity to contribute to developing the teaching skills of faculty members and teaching assistants.

She praised the program as a unique initiative designed specifically for university faculty members, emphasizing that organizing a graduation ceremony for the program was an innovative idea implemented for the first time. She also announced that the Faculty of Education intends to adopt this practice in its future programs.

She concluded by extending her gratitude to all instructors involved in the program, as well as to the participants for their commitment and active engagement throughout the training period.

“The Driving Force of Ain Shams University”

On his part, Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy, Dean of the Faculty of Business, described the Faculty of Education as “the driving force of Ain Shams University” in the field of training and development.

He explained that the idea of the program was an essential component of his strategic vision for the faculty, aimed at enhancing the skills of academic staff and improving their professional performance.

He emphasized the importance of collaborating with a trusted academic partner with a strong history of professionalism, noting that the selection of the Faculty of Education was based on its proven excellence, which was clearly demonstrated through the outstanding performance of its team under the leadership of the Dean.

The Dean of Commerce highlighted the positive feedback from participants who reported gaining new teaching skills and methodologies—such as micro-teaching techniques—which they had not previously encountered, reflecting the high level of professionalism of the program’s organizers.

University Council Decides to Expand Experience Across All Faculties

Prof. El-Garhy announced that the initiative had received praise from the University President and the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. He further noted that the University Council had officially discussed the successful experience and decided to generalize it across all faculties of Ain Shams University, marking a significant institutional achievement.

He also extended his gratitude to the evaluation and judging committee, which included distinguished professors from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Business, emphasizing their neutrality and objective assessment.

Honoring and Certificate Awarding Ceremony

At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy presented the Faculty of Business shield to Prof. Safaa Shehata in recognition of the Faculty of Education’s efforts and effective partnership.

Faculty Staff and program instructors were also honored, followed by the official awarding of completion certificates to faculty staff and teaching assistants who successfully completed the program.

The ceremony concluded in an atmosphere filled with pride and celebration of this distinguished academic achievement.
