The Society of Egyptian Architects - SEA1917 commends Ain Shams University's efforts in preserving Egyptian heritage and cultural identity

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, received a delegation from the Egyptian Architects Association, which included Engineer Saif Allah Mohamed Sami, President of the Association, Prof. Murad Abdel Qader, member of the Association and former Vice President of Ain Shams University, and a group of gentlemen, members of the Association, on a visit to the Zaffran Palace to see the efforts and work that have been made to restore the palace to its old splendor and to repurpose its spaces in a way that meets the new needs and keeps pace with development.

         
   
         

During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen reviewed the most prominent development projects implemented at the palace, and the mechanisms for optimally utilizing the various spaces and areas to meet modern administrative and institutional needs, while fully committing to preserving the palace's unique historical and architectural character.

He also discussed the expansions the university has witnessed since its establishment 75 years ago, the newest faculties that have been built, and the expansions and developments in the university hospitals, particularly Demerdash Hospital, and the investment in interstitial spaces by transforming them into green spaces.

         
   
         

During the tour, which Prof. Ghada Farouk led the delegation through, they were briefed on the restoration and maintenance work that has contributed to restoring the palace to its original splendor. They also reviewed plans for repurposing some of the spaces to achieve a balance between development requirements and preserving the building's heritage identity.

Members of the Egyptian Architects Association delegation expressed their appreciation for Ain Shams University's efforts in preserving architectural heritage and maintaining one of its most prominent historical landmarks. They praised the university's model for managing and developing heritage buildings in a way that ensures sustainability and preserves their cultural and civilizational value for future generations.
