Officials at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University confirmed the success of the dual degree program with an Italian university, noting its role in preparing graduates capable of competing in European markets and enhancing the faculty's international academic presence.
Prof. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, emphasized that the university continues to strengthen its European academic presence through its strategic partnership with the University of Mediterranea in Reggio Calabria, Italy, one of the oldest institutions specializing in architecture. He affirmed that this partnership represents a model of integration between Egyptian and Italian expertise and contributes to preparing generations capable of keeping pace with global changes in the fields of architecture and sustainable development.
Prof. Marwa Khalifa, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Research, affirmed that the dual degree program between Ain Shams University and the University of Mediterranea in Italy has achieved tangible results, with over 100 graduates joining leading architectural firms in Europe. This reflects the ability of Egyptian architects to compete and succeed in global markets.
Prof. Ahmed Sami, Professor of Urban Design and Planning at the Faculty of Engineering and General Coordinator of the dual degree agreement with Italy, stated that the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University combines the authenticity of Egyptian education with European standards. He explained that the program has contributed to the graduation of over 100 students who are currently working in European consulting firms, and has also achieved international recognition through its participation in the 2023 Venice Biennale with the "NiLab" project.
He added that the program grants students a dual degree, encompassing both a bachelor's and a master's degree, thus supporting the development of qualified professionals capable of leading the future of architecture and sustainable development.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed El-Fayoumi, Head of the Landscape Architecture Department at the Faculty of Engineering, explained that the faculty's efforts to internationalize education are embodied in its ongoing collaboration with the University of Mediterranea in Italy. He noted that the faculty delegation's visit to the prestigious Italian university comes within the framework of strengthening the academic partnership and expanding the horizons of scientific and research cooperation between the two institutions.
