In the context of fruitful cooperation with UNESCO, and Ain Shams University's commitment to supporting scientific research and enhancing efforts in the field of environmental conservation, and under the patronage of Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, the University announces – based on the directives of the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities – the opening of nominations for the 2026 UNESCO-Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Conservation.
The prize aims to honor outstanding contributions by individuals, groups, or institutions in the fields of environmental management and conservation.
About the Prize:
• The prize is awarded biennially.
• It includes a certificate of appreciation and a financial award of US$100,000 provided by the Sultanate of Oman.
• The winners will be announced in the fall of 2026.
• The prize ceremony will be held during the World Science Forum in March 2027.
Eligibility Requirements
• The nominee (individual/group/institution) must have outstanding contributions and tangible achievements in one of the following areas:
- Environmental research
- Environmental education and training
- Establishment and management of nature reserves
- Dissemination and promotion of environmental awareness
• Self-nominations are not accepted and must be submitted through the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO.
• The nominee's work must align with UNESCO's objectives and programs in the field of natural resource and environmental conservation.
• Nominations that support the participation of female researchers are encouraged.
Required Documents (for International Nomination)
The application must be submitted in English or French and include:
1. A formal, certified, and stamped nomination letter from the employer.
2. A completed official nomination form.
3. A formal letter of recommendation explaining the rationale for the nomination.
4. An executive summary of key achievements in the field of environment.
5. An updated curriculum vitae.
6. A list of scientific publications or books.
7. Field research findings and any supporting documentation.

• Nominee's information and contact details (name, position, email, WhatsApp number).
• Recent academic transcript.
• Justification for nomination.
• Proof of registration on the university's awards database.
• Deadline for receiving nominations from faculties: May 15, 2026
• Deadline for submitting nominations to the Egyptian National Commission: June 1, 2026
• Final deadline for submission to UNESCO: June 15, 2026
