As part of its leading role in community service and its commitment to fostering a culture of volunteerism among its students, Ain Shams University, through its Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, organized a series of personal interviews for students interested in joining the volunteer teams at the Community Observatory Portal. This initiative was undertaken in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, and the interview committee received more than 200 male and female students from various faculties across the university.

The interviews were attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Amal Imam, Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, clearly underscoring the importance of the initiative and its role in supporting community work.
Prof. Ghada Farouk praised the high student turnout, emphasizing that participation in volunteer work contributes to developing communication and teamwork skills, enhances their life experiences, and strengthens their connection to community issues, in line with the university's commitment to empowering youth and preparing them to be active contributors to achieving sustainable development.
For his part, Prof. Rami Maher Ghali stressed the importance of student involvement in volunteer activities, noting their role in developing community awareness and refining students' character, thus enhancing their understanding of their responsibilities towards their community.
In the same context, Dr. Amal Imam explained that the cooperation between Ain Shams University and the Egyptian Red Crescent embodies an effective model of integration between the academic and applied aspects, contributing to linking the outputs of scientific research with the needs of society, thus supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting a culture of humanitarian work.
The interviews continued for three consecutive days, with the participation of a select group of faculty staff, including Prof. Gihan Ragab, Prof. Sherine Rady, and Prof. Hind El-Hilaly, in addition to Professor Mahmoud Gamal, and a number of faculty staff from the Faculties of Archaeology, Girls, Engineering, and Specific Education.
This initiative aligns with the university's strategy to support volunteer work and cultivate a sense of social responsibility among students by providing diverse opportunities for active participation in humanitarian activities. This contributes to developing a cadre of young people capable of making a positive and lasting impact.
The volunteer program at the Community Observatory Portal aims to prepare a conscious and qualified generation equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to participate in community work. It also supports research activities by monitoring and analyzing societal issues and preparing studies and recommendations that contribute to supporting decision-makers.
A preparatory training program will be organized for accepted students to prepare them for their involvement in the Community Observatory Portal's activities in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, thus enhancing their role as active partners in community service.
