Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, along with the Vice Presidents and Deans of the Faculties, extend their heartfelt congratulations on the appointment of Dr. Yasmine Fouad to a high-level international position as Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
This new position is a culmination of a distinguished career and reflects the great international confidence in her competence and extensive experience in addressing global environmental challenges. It also reflects the leading role of the Egyptian state in supporting international efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in light of the escalating environmental crises facing the world.
Ain Shams University is proud to have Dr. Yasmine Fouad as one of its graduates, having earned her Master of Science in Environmental Sciences from the university's Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research.
Her distinguished thesis focused on: "The Role of Development Assistance in Poverty Reduction and Environmental Protection: A Case Study of Urban Development Projects in Egypt."
