The Education and Student Affairs Council at Ain Shams University discusses readiness for “remote work” and the development of academic programs in line with labor market demands

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the sixth meeting of the Education and Student Affairs Council at Ain Shams University for the 2025/2026 academic year was held, chaired by Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs. The meeting was attended by council members, deans of faculties, vice deans for education and student affairs, external members, and Mr. Ibrahim Saeed, Assistant Secretary of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector.

At the beginning of the session, the Vice President extended his congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wishing continued success and prosperity for all.

In preparation for implementing the Cabinet’s decision to apply a remote work system for one or two days per week (if issued), he emphasized the importance of full readiness, along with strict adherence to lecture schedule via online platforms in line with the pre-announced timetables, ensuring that the educational process remains unaffected.

In light of the political leadership’s directives to develop the education system and align it with labor market needs, he stressed the necessity of reviewing and updating academic programs to meet market requirements, as well as enhancing student-oriented programs to strengthen their competitiveness both locally and internationally.

In this context, he noted the preparation of a dedicated model for receiving proposals, in addition to allocating an email address for faculty members to submit their visions and suggestions regarding the development of academic programs. These proposals will be presented to the relevant higher committee and formulated according to a comprehensive university vision before being submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education.

He also referred to the preparation of a series of surveys targeting university graduates from 2016 to the present, aimed at tracking their engagement with the labor market and identifying their fields of work. This will contribute to evaluating educational outcomes and supporting development efforts.

During the meeting, the Vice President expressed his appreciation to Prof. Rana El-Helaly in recognition of her efforts during her tenure as Director of the Center for Services for Students with Disabilities, honoring her with a certificate of appreciation.

The council discussed the items on the agenda, and the Vice President affirmed the council’s commitment to adopting all decisions that serve students’ interests while maintaining the quality of the educational process.

The session also included the approval of the minutes of the Council for Education and Student Affairs meeting held on February 16, 2026, as well as the minutes of the Permanent Committee meeting held on March 3, 2026.

During the session, a proposal from the General Administration of Education and Student Affairs regarding the rules and regulations for issuing graduation certificates (official – secure – original) was reviewed. Faculties were tasked with studying the proposal from administrative, technical, and financial perspectives. Graduate affairs departments were directed to coordinate with relevant entities within faculties to provide feedback, under the supervision of the vice deans.

The council was also informed of a letter from the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding the council’s decision in its session held on February 28, 2026, which included adopting a monthly report model to be submitted to the Supreme Council of Universities to measure the impact of awareness activities addressing emerging societal phenomena. The model prepared by the General Administration of Education and Student affairs was approved.

Additionally, the council was briefed on a letter from the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding the Egyptian Student Engagement Survey (ESSE), launched in its third edition from January 2026 until the end of July 2026. The survey targets final-year students in Egyptian universities for the 2025/2026 academic year and aims to measure the quality of educational services, enhance communication channels between students and their institutions, promote a culture of participation and constructive engagement on campus, and generate accurate indicators on the quality of education and academic and professional support in line with international quality and accreditation standards (http://esse.scu.eg).

Prof. Rami Maher Ghali emphasized the importance of raising student awareness to encourage participation in the survey.

At the conclusion of the session, the latest updates on the issuance of National Bank cards for Ain Shams University students were reviewed based on data received from faculties.
