Ain Shams University has achieved a new international milestone, further enriching its record of accomplishments, as its university hospitals ranked 43rd globally in the Brand Finance 2026 ranking of the Top 100 Academic Medical Centers (AMCs) worldwide. This ranking is considered one of the leading global classifications that assess the performance of prominent hospitals across the world.
This advanced position reflects the prestigious status the University has attained on the international medical stage, successfully maintaining its strong presence among the top 100 hospitals worldwide and surpassing many long-established medical institutions. The respected U.S.-based ranking relies on rigorous criteria, including the quality of patient care, the strength of medical research outputs, and the excellence of educational and training programs for physicians.
This achievement represents the culmination of the University’s strategy to develop its medical system and transform its hospitals into smart centers delivering healthcare services that meet international standards, with a strong focus on research-driven innovation aimed at addressing global health challenges.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, stated that securing the 43rd position globally is the result of the sustained efforts of the University’s medical and research teams, who work under a clear vision to enhance the efficiency of Egypt’s healthcare system. He added that maintaining a leading global position despite intense international competition confirms that the University is on the right path toward sustainable medical leadership serving both scientific research and society.
He also commended the efforts of Ain Shams University Hospitals under the supervision of Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, and the leadership of Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals. He noted that Ain Shams University has, for years, implemented a comprehensive development strategy for its university hospitals in alignment with the Egyptian state’s efforts to strengthen the healthcare sector and provide the highest quality medical services to citizens, alongside ongoing work to complete the national project, “Ain Shams Medical City.”
It is worth noting that the Brand Finance Academic Medical Centers (AMCs) ranking is regarded as one of the most precise global indicators measuring the strength and influence of healthcare institutions that integrate clinical services with academic and research activities.
The 2026 edition of the ranking is based on a survey of more than 2,500 healthcare professionals across 30 countries, evaluating over 500 medical centers. The assessment is built on three main pillars to ensure comprehensive performance measurement: the quality of clinical services, levels of trust and professional recognition, the scale of innovation and contribution to global medical research, and the institution’s capacity to train and graduate medical professionals to international standards.
The significance of this ranking lies in the fact that it does not merely assess material capabilities; rather, it focuses on institutional reputation and the intangible value of the medical brand. Consequently, inclusion among the top 100 hospitals worldwide serves as an international endorsement of the institution’s leadership and its ability to attract top scientific talent and implement the latest treatment protocols.
