Under the Theme “Law and Energy” …the Faculty of Law Announces the Opening of Abstract Submissions for Its 2026 Annual Scientific Conference

The Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University has announced the opening of abstract submissions for participation in its upcoming annual scientific conference, titled “Law and Energy,” scheduled to be held on May 2–3, 2026, at the faculty’s premises.

The conference will be held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El‑Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Yassin El‑Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim El‑Shafie, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Tarek Ahmed Maher Zaghloul, Professor of Criminal Law and Conference Rapporteur.

The “Law and Energy” conference will address eight main themes, as follows:

Energy Governance for Sustainable Development: focusing on the transition to sustainable energy, ethics of sustainability, the economic impact of clean energy, and the importance of green hydrogen.

Legal Aspects of Energy Contracts: covering cross-border contracts, oil and gas contracts, economic equilibrium in contracts, and public–private partnership (PPP) models.

Legislation Regulating Renewable and Sustainable Energy: addressing jurisprudential and Sharia-related provisions, investment incentives in renewable energy, and the legal regulation of green hydrogen and energy storage.

Environmental Justice and the Green Transition: examining the role of carbon taxes, state and corporate responsibility for climate change, and the right to a clean environment as a human right.

Legal Regulation of Emerging Energy Technologies: including the peaceful use of nuclear energy, artificial intelligence in energy management, and technological innovation.

Liability Arising from Energy Uses: studying civil, criminal, administrative, and international liability.

Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in Energy Uses: highlighting arbitration and expert determination, as well as the settlement of investment and petroleum contract disputes through international institutions such as ICSID and UNCITRAL.

Energy and Armed Conflicts: discussing conflicts over energy resources as causes of war, protection of energy facilities during conflicts, and the legality of nuclear weapons.

The conference administration invites faculty members, researchers, and specialists in law and related disciplines to submit their research abstracts and contribute to enriching the conference sessions and discussions.
