As part of Ain Shams University's commitment to enhancing its students' awareness of sustainability and environmental development issues, a delegation of university students participated in the 14th Arab-African Youth Forum, which was organized by the Arab Youth and Environment Union in cooperation with the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports of the League of Arab States and the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The students' participation was under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zan El Abedeen, University President, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs. It was organized by the Education and Student Affairs sector and coordinated and supervised administratively by Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs.
This year's forum discussed the theme "Green Universities: A Step Towards Achieving Sustainable Development." It was held in Luxor and Aswan from December 12 to 18, 2025, with the participation of approximately 300 young men and women from Egyptian and Arab universities, representing 18 Arab countries, along with a select group of experts, specialists, and media representatives.
The forum's program included several panel discussions, workshops, and presentations, along with a field activity: a tree-planting campaign at Luxor University. It also featured tourism activities, including visits to tourist sites in Luxor and Aswan.

Furthermore, the program included a social initiative: launching a dedicated forum page on social media to publicize its events and provide young people with opportunities to connect and interact with their peers, thus contributing to the promotion of a green culture within the community.
It is worth mentioning that an honorary award was given to Ain Shams University students Mohamed Abdel Rahim Abdel Rahim and Marwan Mohamed Abdel Nabi by Prof. Magdi Allam, the global environmental expert and founder of the Arab Union for Youth and Environment, and Prof. Emad Adly, Secretary of the Arab Network for Environment and Development, in recognition of their effective and distinguished participation during the first scientific session entitled “Partnerships and Funding in the Green Transformation of Universities.”
The participation of Ain Shams University students comes as part of the activities and events organized by the Education and Student Affairs Sector, represented by the Student Unions and Associations Department – General Administration for Youth Welfare. This participation reflects the university's commitment to supporting student involvement in Arab and African events, enhancing their awareness of sustainability and environmental development issues, and highlighting the role of universities in building a more sustainable future.
