As part of Ain Shams University's pioneering role as a leading academic and research think tank among Egyptian universities, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Ain Shams University has signed an executive annex to the joint cooperation protocol with Qena Governorate, with the aim of preparing a comprehensive guide for the visual, urban, and architectural identity of the governorate.
The signing ceremony of the executive annex to the cooperation protocol between the governorate and Ain Shams University was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena.
The executive agreement was signed by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Hazem Omar, Deputy Governor of Qena, in the presence of Major General Samy Allam, Secretary-General of the Governorate, Major General Ayman El-Sayed, Assistant Secretary-General, along with several executive leaders and members of the university delegation.
This cooperation reflects the strong trust that Qena Governorate places in Ain Shams University, due to its outstanding expertise in urban planning, engineering, and technical consultancy. The university will be responsible for preparing the urban and architectural identity guidebook for Qena, in a way that preserves its cultural, environmental, and geographical uniqueness, and supports urban development projects in new cities such as "New Qena" and "West Qena."
The protocol also includes the design and development of three major squares in Qena, the provision of technical consultations and specialized studies, and capacity building for local cadres, in a manner that enhances sustainable development efforts and aligns with the state’s vision for Egypt 2030.
Dr. Ghada Farouk affirmed that Ain Shams University is proud of this cooperation, which represents a model of integration between Egyptian universities and governorates, emphasizing that Qena, with its unique cultural, heritage, touristic, and agricultural assets, deserves a comprehensive visual identity that reflects its distinctive and diverse character.
This collaboration reaffirms Ain Shams University’s role as a key driver of community and urban development across various Egyptian governorates and reinforces its leadership in providing academic and research expertise to support local development efforts.
