As part of its pioneering academic journey and ongoing efforts to strengthen its scientific and research standing both locally and internationally, Ain Shams University continues to reap the rewards of excellence. Its scientific and research endeavors were recently crowned with the university receiving four prestigious State Awards for 2024, granted by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in various scientific fields, including the State Appreciation, Excellence, and Encouragement Awards.
On this occasion, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, along with the University’s Awards Office, extend their heartfelt congratulations to the faculty staff who received this year’s State Awards. They expressed the university’s deep appreciation for the recipients' high-level scientific achievements, which have elevated the university's name and reinforced its prestigious status as an academic and research institution with a tangible impact on the scientific community.
The Awards Office at Ain Shams University announced that the 2024 awards, as declared by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, included four awards granted to four distinguished scholars from the university, representing three different faculties.
The list of Ain Shams University’s award recipients for this year includes:
Prof. Hadiya Mohamed Said El-Hennawy, Emeritus Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering and former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering – awarded the State Appreciation Award in Engineering Sciences, in recognition of her distinguished scientific contributions and pioneering research in the fields of mobile communication systems, micrometric circuit design, antennas, and solving communication challenges using microwave technologies.
Prof. Ebtehal El-Demerdash Zaki Morsy, Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, was awarded the State Award for Excellence in Medical Sciences, in recognition of her outstanding contributions in the fields of pharmacology and toxicology, gene therapy, stem cell therapy, as well as her research on the effectiveness of drugs in treating liver fibrosis.
Prof. Hany Saber Sayed Saudi, Professor in the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, received the State Award for Excellence in Agricultural Sciences, in appreciation of his high-level scientific contributions to crop science, weed management, environmental protection, and his role in supporting and developing the agricultural sector.
Dr. Alaa Mohsen Abdel Aziz Ahmed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Physics and Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering, was granted the State Encouragement Award in Engineering Sciences for his research in cement chemistry and sustainable construction materials using waste, with a focus on improving the mechanical and environmental properties of building materials.
