As part of the activities marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, organized by the Cabinet in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Addiction Control Fund, and the Leaders Preparation Institute, Ain Shams University, under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, achieved remarkable sports accomplishments.
The university participated with a delegation of 100 male and female students representing various faculties on Tuesday, June 24, in competitions including handball, five-a-side football, and e-sports.
Ain Shams University's participation was administratively supervised by Mr. Ibrahim Said Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector and carried out by the Sports Activities Department at the General Administration of Youth Welfare. The results included the university’s handball team (male students) winning first place and the gold medal, along with the championship trophy.
Additionally, student Youssef Hesham from the Faculty of Engineering shined by securing first place and the gold medal in the e-sports competition, which featured the participation of 64 students.
The sports festival also included a running marathon with 75 male and female students from various youth welfare departments at the university.
It is worth noting that seven major universities took part in the sports festival: Ain Shams, Benha, Benha National University, Helwan, Cairo, Misr University for Science and Technology, and New Cairo Technological University.
These achievements reflect the university’s commitment to supporting student activities and nurturing athletic talents, in alignment with the goals of the International Day Against Drug Abuse by channeling youth energy into positive and constructive activities
