The meeting aims to support joint cooperation between Ain Shams University, represented by the Faculty of Education, through the Center of Excellence for Studies and Research in German and Arabic for Non-Native Speakers at the Faculty of Education, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), while seeking to overcome any obstacles that may hinder this cooperation. The Faculty of Education includes a German Language Department that offers two undergraduate programs for teaching German language and literature, with the participation of visiting professors from Germany, providing students with the opportunity to travel to Germany on a one-month scholarship as part of the preparatory program. There is also a master's program offered by the Center of Excellence for Studies and Research in German and Arabic for Non-Native Speakers in partnership with the University of Leipzig, Germany, where students spend a semester on scholarships in Germany.
This meeting comes as part of Ain Shams University's commitment to strengthening its international relations and expanding academic and research cooperation with leading global educational institutions, serving the development of education and scientific research in Egypt.
The meeting also reviewed projects, scholarships, and workshops offered by the German Agency.
It's worth noting that the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is an organization dedicated to the international exchange of students and scholars, and is the world's largest organization dedicated to funding academic mobility. As an association of German universities, the DAAD represents 242 German higher education institutions, with more than 500 representatives in approximately 100 countries.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Regional Office in Cairo provides a platform for communication, cooperation, and research activities between Egyptian and German universities and research institutes. Through diverse and attractive funding programs, the DAAD offers funding opportunities for Egyptian scientists, as well as scientists from Germany, for research residencies and research projects.
