The president of Ain Shams University stresses the importance of internationalizing teaching programs

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research organized the closing ceremony for graduates of the Training of Trainers Program for Internationalization Officials in Egyptian universities, in which four government universities participated, namely, Ain Shams University, Zagazig University, Helwan University and Fayoum University, within the framework of the ministry's strategy towards internationalizing higher education and building capacity in society Academic to implement this strategy.

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the supervisor of the Scholarships and Cultural Affairs sector, was keen to receive representatives of the participating universities, trainees and the expert body, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Othman Shaalan, President of Zagazig University, Prof. Dr. Mervat Askar, Vice President of Zagazig University for Graduate Studies, Dr. Mona Fouad Attia, Vice President of Helwan University for Graduate Studies, and Dr. Rasha Kamal, Acting Head of the Central Administration for International Student Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education.

Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the training program and those in charge of it, and his Excellency thanked both the University of Zagazig and the Committee of Experts for the success of the program, directing the necessity of developing a framework for concepts and a strategic plan for internationalization in Egyptian universities and preparing a draft of the regulations and laws governing this.

Where prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini stressed the importance of internationalizing teaching programs as it contributes to raising the international rankings of universities, stressing the importance of preparing cadres to lead the internationalization process in Egyptian universities and converting the program’s outputs into a clear strategic plan that can be used in all Egyptian universities.

For his part, Dr. Othman Shaalan thanked Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his sponsorship and support for the program until the end, expressing his happiness for the success of the program.

Dr. Rasha Kamal indicated that cadres from Egyptian universities will be trained. To push the process of internationalization in public universities, explaining that this training is the first at the level of international relations and aims to develop it among university faculty members.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Ayman Ashour, the presidents of the participating universities, presented them with the shield of the "Study in Egypt" initiative to support the initiative and achieve internationalization, especially as achieving internationalization will contribute to increasing the number of foreign students studying in Egyptian universities, and the trainees were also honored.

The trainees were trained by experts from among the graduates of the international program "Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES)", supported by the Republic of Germany, where 26 faculty and administrators were trained at the level of 13 universities, to create cadres with a high level of experience and training.

It is worth noting that internationalization in higher education is the addition of international or global factors to higher education and the aim of which is the global competition to attract talent and attract foreign students to study in Egypt, and this occurs by establishing branches of foreign universities and colleges in the country, and providing advanced study programs that allow the exchange of experiences with students and faculty members and the administrative bodies of educational institutions, internationalization of curricula and research in order to keep pace with the development of the times, in addition to establishing partnerships with foreign and local universities.
